So say in about an hour if you are one of the lucky ones to get the update today, how would you go about getting the update.zip on to the boards for the other forum members? Or is the the wrong place to ask this?

You can do an adb pull.

Do you know the file path/file that you would pull using that?

They are probably doing the staged update to see if it works properly. To me, it would be silly to send the update to everyone, just to find out there's a glitch somewhere. Why potentially screw up millions of phones?

This way makes sense.

Not to mention the bandwidth this update is going to take... the verizon servers couldn't handle millions of downloads of the same update at the same time.. it would bog down the network to a crawl, if not crash the whole system...

I'm not talking about end user bandwidth.. I'm talking about the server bandwidth. They've only got so much they can upload at a time.. let's say for ****s and giggles they have a 1gbit up line.. cut that a few million ways and everybody's cut will be so small it won't matter ifb you're downloading from wifi, 3g, 1g, or even 1x.. everyone would get uber slow speeds IF the server doesn't crash from the load..

A little off topic but when is the actual map goin to be updated, I can't se my house and it doesn't recognise my address. Is there a way to add the address?

But for those of us that are running ROMs, couldn't we go back to stock 2.0.1 (via DMUpdater), then do a manual pull from Verizon next week (or 2) by:
Settings > About Phone > Systems Updates?

yes you can, this is stated even in verizon's instructions as a way to get the update if you're roaming.

Ahh, back from flying, on my Droid, if you got the update notification, attach to PC, mount, and copy update.zip from riot of SD card to PC, that's it.

Must do before you update, or it will be erased as part of the clean up process after it updates.
