Darn, wanted to edit may last post, why is the edit button not there on occasion, am I missing something? I'm logged in ...

Anyways, go to go aviating, nice day for it too, be back later on thru Droid to check up on you guys after 0 hour :icon_ devil:

Is there any indication that 2.1 will include fixes for call quality, i.e. problems with muffled audio, etc.? Weeks back, there was speculation of such, but I can find nothing in the Motorola release notes.

Every time I call Verizon regarding this problem, they tell me I sound crystal clear. Other than Verizon, I can barely be heard.

Same here. They basically speak to me like I'm an idiot. Doesn't give me much hope that the problem will be fixed. May have to return my Droids within the 30 days if 2.1 doesn't address this issue, so a lot riding on it for me.

Any guess as to what percentage 10,000 is to the total Droids in use is?

Wish I was flying. My office is directly across from the small controlled airfield here in Monroe and I watch the 172s shooting touch and gos all day. In my day I could touch down on the numbers 4 outta 5 times :)

This is actually serious. I'm kicking myself now, because I think I may have been pushed the update yesterday. I was in a meeting around 2:15 or so, when my phone vibrated. I pulled out to see what kind of a notification it was, but nothing showed up in the bar. In addition, the notification LED was blinking green. When I unlocked, there was a message displayed over the home that said "Update in progress..." I killed my phone right away, though, as I wasn't aware you could push it off to later, and I hadn't backed up my phone in a while, so I wanted to play it safe.

Whether this was it or not, I don't know. It hasn't come back since. I just figured you all might appreciate hearing the story.

It wasn't 2.1, no pushes until the first 1K today at 12am EST.

In case you mistyped.....its 12 pm (noon)

Ha...Just as I predicted; people whine and complain about update delays, and then whine and complain after the updates arrive. You really can't seem to please even the average consumer anymore these days. Well I for one am rather amped. I had a Moto RAZR prior to getting the Droid so if my being under a rock all this time is the only thing that has made me more grateful for this phone's functionality than most people then good thing.

To all of the rooted users; bravo, we get it, you ran through some steps listed elsewhere by someone surely more intelligent than yourself and voided your warranty, and most of you likely have little or no true justification for doing so. To those of us who weren't as interested in either being l33t hax00rs or being on the absolute bleeding edge of technology, I'm sure we're still very excited about the update even though it doesn't include everything we've been wanting.

That's marketing people, you keep the customers hungry and snapping at every little crumb and they'll keep dishing out the cash no matter how much they complain.

Without trying to read thru 53 pages of posts. Has anyone stated or confirmed if you go back to stock and get the update and not be satisfied compared to the Ultimate Droid v7.8 (in my case), will I be able to re-root and go back to v7.8 with the new OS?

I'm not sure if that's confirmed yet. Personally, I would not go back to stock just yet - of course, I'm not going back to stock at all.

x3. I talked to half a dozen different reps about the muffled audio on the other end and each one said "well this is the first time I've heard of anyone having this problem" and kept dismissing me so finally I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint, less hassle

They'll probably pull some anti rooting update with it. That's what Apple did when I used my iPod Touch. Just don't upgrade... our ROMs are already at 2.1 but better.

For those that are having sound quality issues here is the fix. It has been around for a while, but I guess if you are new you wouldn't know about it.

Nothing will be confirmed until the update actually happens. It's likely that the update will remove root access, and it's likely that it will re-flash the recovery image. It is, however, distinctly possible that RDSLite will still be able to flash the phone, thus giving you the ability to install a rooted image, or go back to 2.0.1 and re-root. But there is nothing guaranteeing that! Wait and see.

This may be something you've already considered, but what case do you have? There have been some issues with cases covering up the mic hole and causing the sound to be muffled. It seems really obvious, but it could be that simple. Try removing the case entirely and see if the problem still occurs.

If my PDANet still allows tethering under 2.1 without rooting I will be happy. Themes don't excite me but overclocking does. Resisting being assimilated.

I'd rather not be one of the first 10,000. Obviously they are using that as a test group. If nobody complains that it killed their Droid they will release it to everyone else. Put me in group 2 please.

And less results.
