Does your phone promise updates then fail to deliver? droid does :(

Don't believe i heard a promise from anyone. None the less, it's a problem that should be fixed within a day or so, and others have already stated, i didn't buy this phone because i HAD TO HAVE 2.1, i bought it because it's an amazing phone, with or without 2.1.

I have to agree. I'm more amused than upset because this reflects on Verizon so badly. This is being made WAY more complicated than it needs to be especially on Verizons side for the most part. There's more than one way to skin this cat and quite honestly distributing the update this way reveals an OLD way of thinking. This should be available via download for advanced users (who care more than the casual user) and OTA should be left for those who aren't particularly pressed about it. This would alleviate the strain on the network anyway. Think Verizon! THINK!

But over all... I'm not to worried because I don't want to be without PDANet for a few weeks anyway.

Wow there is some good info about the ese53 and it may be why it is delayed. It is long and it really discuss what is going on with the droidmod crew but if you read into it. It points to the reason for the delay..sort of. Its long and I do not want to take the story out of context. read here: DroidMod - Everything Droid doesn't, DroidMod does.

to see if you are getting the same vibe I am getting.

Other than the fact that these guys decided to make sure they stayed on the right side of the line, and conducted themselves in an honest fashion, I didn't get much out of the article, unless you are referring to the point they referenced about the ESE53 build being stolen from the company by an employee.

I don't want to make assumptions or insinuations about the reported theft of the code having something to do with the delay in getting the update OTA.....

What does this have to do with the release of 2.1 at all? I think you need to reread that article.

yeah but if that is true then that may delay it because of them doing a internal investigation. Now that would not have delayed it today; but the delay up to this point would have been affected by it.

I want to thank all the people with rooted devices, for not throwing the delayed update into our non-rooted faces. Moto is really making me sad.

That point, I could see. Theft of a company's "intellectual property" is serious business. When I worked for Gateway, we had to sign documents promising not to talk about anything we were told not to talk about...(I was just a lowly tech in the store shop...so it's not like I had access to anything, but, I understood the reasons for it.) Delaying the release while they investigated who leaked the code could make sense.

Thats the point I was trying to make. I am not saying todays ota was directly the result of that. But if someone was making some money off of a leaked unfinshed update. Then that would cause serious issues. You can imagine what the company would have to do to deal with that issue as far as seeing what all info was compromised. That would set the company back just dealing with that. They was already pushing to fix the bugs, and you add a breach to that and it would explain the long delay.
