The guy on his couch didn't build anything. Compiling a kernel takes about 15 minutes give or take. Thats about the most 'building' the rom cooks out there do, with some very FEW exceptions.

I agree... While these roms are wonderful, they didn't actually build them. They got their hands on them and did some tweaking and adjustments. That is alot easier than actually designing and building the entire rom.

What's good about the ese 2.1 roms that are out there is that if they can get their hands on them and do their tweaking, they can get them to us quicker. i wouldn't be surprised if they are leaked on purpose so many of us can do the testing for them.... LOL

i do think it's motorola messing this up. i don't remember at&t ever holding back any updates and i'm pretty sure there's more iphones out there and that verizon has a better network. maybe it is verizon, but i just don't see it. lulz @ lulz, who types that? :heart:

AT&T does not have a say in the iPhone OS update, but AT&T has held back, took away many BB OS updates.

Can I inject some calmness here. It is obvious that the update will not be pushed today. Is it disappointing (to each his own). I enjoy my phone the way it is, it works and do what I want for it to do and more. I agree it would be easier for all parties if motorola or vzw would just put the update file online and allow for manual updates. I expressed that to motorola earlier today (see post 787 for a copy of the convo). But it is what it is. If you choose to root do you research and do so. If not then so be it. Motorola has done a good job with this phone. Who is to blame for the update not being pushed is up for speculation until vzw release an official statement about the issue.
The update will not make your phone super; it will fix some issues and may include the required software change for flash. THose that are rooted will return to root and those that are not will continue life as usual.
To be on a forum going back and forth is ridiculous and is going to get this thread closed (IMO they should close it until further update of when the ota will be released.)
Continue to enjoy your device. You loved it up to now and I doubt you bought it just for updates.

The anticipation of the 2.1 release is almost as bad as when Revenge of the Sith came out. The closer the release date got, the further away it seemed. I for one doubt that it will get pushed out tonight, but I will welcome it with open arms once it does come to my phone..

For now I will sit back, and work on learning Croatian...

This is the real reason for the delay, and DF is part of the reason for the delay: Since DF is waiting on parts to upgrade their server, VZW is holding 2.1 up till the upgrade @ DF is finished.

LOL.... seriously. It's just really funny to watch how sensitive people are to constructive criticism of the Droid and poking fun of the insanity that is the wait for the marginal 2.1 update... missing many of the things we thought would be in it!!! At least you're getting something productive done.

And yes... I apologize for poking fun at all the people posting pictures to ridicule me. Next time I'll find an even more juvenile picture to add to the mix. Maybe a grinch. LOL. It's one step up from a Star Trek convention...
