This is exactly what I was told earlier today in so many words but it was unconfirmed.

“Apparently we will probably be waiting even longer for the 2.1 update for Droid. According to my source, the need to “ramp up” the distribution application and the network infrastructure that hosts it won’t just happen overnight. Bitfone has allegedly just contracted with a third-party solution consultant to assist with the redesign of the infrastructure My contact did mention that they are moving on this as quickly as possible, but the reality is that it going to take some time. Not sure what Motorola is planning on doing on the PR front…”

Purely speculating but I do think they pushed it out. They will use this time to test the update and then when the distro is back online they will begin to push it out to more users.

You need to take a sedative. People here have been venting a little bit and nobody has used any profanity or seriously harsh language that went over a reasonably acceptable line. I've seen more animosity at Olympic curling and shuffleboard events in the Florida seniors club.

I'm off to have some fun discussion elsewhere where I don't feel as though every little nick nack is edited. A little back and forth keeps the blood flowing and I wouldn't even censor the ridiculous troll pictures. Have fun guys.

We have a great membership here and want to keep it that way so we are a little "tougher" than most places. DF has ALWAYS been a friendly community and we owe it to our members to keep it that way.

What's so wrong with letting those who know how just download and install it themselves? Why not go ahead and make the update available on the google dev site like they did with 2.0.1 if the update is in fact complete?

I am patiently waiting on this update. YES i have seen them promising dates for some time now but the phone works perfect as it is and it makes me laugh to see people mad about it. All thats in the update are perks like multitouch and live wallpapers and quite honestly live wallpapers might be cool for a little while but are they something the phone really needs? It may just end up slowing the phone down.

Now something i wish they included in 2.1 is Bluetooth dialing. I HATE the fact i cannot dial from the button on my bluetooth headset. It makes it damn near impossible to be completely hands free.
