to me that's not the point anymore... it's the principle and in my opinion this fiasco has more of an impact on the future of android then people are giving it credit. it's not just about live wallpapers anymore. it's not about the fact that if this keeps on happening android may get a bad reputation. non-tech people are going to start hearing rumors about how just because you buy a phone with android doesn't mean you're going to have a relevant phone. people may not want to buy a phone running android that isn't a google baby.
i really believe that the reason that twitter is so successful is all the aftermarket programs that streamlined the ui. what if some people were able to re-tweet, some were able to only see some people, and some people didn't know if they were going to get the newest version of twitter that would allow them to do what their friends were able to do? i really think it would be a different story and i see that possibly being the problem for android in the future.
i feel like android is becoming mexico and iphone is the united states. there is way cooler stuff available when you cross the border, but you don't know if you're going to find it when you get there or if you're going to get hurt trying to find it. in the u.s. you're pretty protected, but you have to go through so much regulation that everything is watered down by the time you're allowed to have it. bad analogy i know, but take it for what it is.
i really hope google figures out a way to streamline this process so there are more answers then questions. just a little bit of communication goes a long way.

Why are people so worried about the 2.1 update when you have Black Droid's roms at your fingertips. Why Why Why funny to see people on the Motorola Facebook page cussing them out about it. But then you say why dont you root? Repsonse "What's root?" Droid Forums needs a facebook page if they dont have one "i have not noticed." just to let people see what droid really does.

you guys are kind of missing the point. in order to have all of your cool android stuff you need average users to purchase android phones to keep the money flowing. you don't have to think the iphone is cool or not, but you do have to admit its success. if android stays fragmented people are not going to adopt it into their every day life like they have the iphone (in the masses).
i payed to get out of at&t contract to buy my droid so i'm not hyping the iphone. i hate apple, i hate the iphone, i hate at&t. however, you can't deny the fact that they are status quo and you hve to look at what made them successful and do that better. i believe the first step is going to be pushing updates to all android phones at the same time, letting people know when they purchase a phone how long they're going to be supported, and so on. without that... when you've gone through this with your droid, your contract is up, and you have a choice between the next moto device and the next google device with the same specs, same cost, and same release date... which one are you going to choose?

ahhhhhahahhaha... could you please clarify, how could anyone want to see what their phone runs like the way it's supposed to be?
i agree.. i for 1 am rooted but that is beside the point.. most people who have a DROID do not want to root it. it is there call.. we should not belittle them for a personal choice.this thread has been post after post of rooters telling the people who have no desire to root to root.. they know it is an option and they know people will help them if they have a problem..They get the point if you root you can get 2.1. if not they wait for the update. it is no diffrent than us highly anticipating the relase of ud 8.2 or whatever he decides to call it.. just my 2 cents
