2.3 Update

My boss got the update a week or so ago. he claims slightly better battery, and definate increase in speed. I am still yet to get it.

Comments such as "The update seems to bring back the low memory bug with a vengeance though." in a prior quote make me wonder.

There are bound to be bugs with any new software rollout. If you happen to get that message again, then I'd suggest storing some apps on the sd card, or by resetting your phone.

The most incredible, incredible!

I'm hoping Verizon addresses this issue since their halt on the update rollout. Like Braves said, there are bound to be bugs, no OS or any software is perfect and flawless.

Once you backup and do a factory reset it should help. I have heard many droid owners, especially inc owners, bring up the low memory message, but I never had it. I had it even to the point where I had only 1gb left and still never got the message.

For a better performing phone, I'll take a small notification bug anyday.

May I ask for advice on backing up? I don't think I need to back up contacts, because I simply sync them with my Gmail account. I don't need to back up the numerous files I carry around on my phone that I've copied from my computer, because I can simply copy them again. What about apps? Will Android Market remember all the apps (free and purchased) that I have downloaded and installed, and will they be reinstalled following the factory reset? What haven't I even remembered to ask?

All your apps and contacts are tied to your gmail account. Once you log back in after the initial setup they should start automatically start downloading the files once again, if not just open the market and go to "my apps" and they will be there for re-downloading. If you play games such as Angry Birds, your save files will be erased, there is a way to save and retrieve them, but I'm not aware of the process.

If you text alot, your text messages will be erased as well. This is an easy fix with SMSBackup+, or any other backing up software you may have.

Sounds like you were most worried about your apps and those are safe, you don't have to search the market for them 1 by 1 again. However, the information within those apps will be lost as it will be a fresh install (high scores, notes, bookmarks) all will be deleted.

I know you haven't received the update yet, but I would be glad to hear your input on it once you do. I will do the same as well. Hope this helped...

Good find Cuda and I see you own a Droid 3 so thanks for helping!

I just ROMed last night out of boredom to CM7 with GB and it works great. It's stable and quick, and I love the screen off animation (ended up turning it on and off a couple times :P)

Whoever decides to manual update, please let us know how it goes. I know some of you, especially you Bravesfan, have been waiting for quite some time now. To think about 8 hours ago I had stock kernel going...might go back since it is backed up

So I just tried the manual update option, just to see if it would work, but it didn't. I kept getting a "no image or wrong image" found. I cleared the cache, data, and everything.

Tried in HBOOT and in Clockwork

Well I got sick of waiting so I did the manual update, btw its not all that great

That seems to be the general consensus "not all that great" or the other side of the coin people's phones have had issues with this update. Everyone thinks this GB update for the INC will change their world, you still have a stock VZW device that is on it's last legs. A rooted INC running an aftermarket GB rom modified to your likes on the other hand is a different phone all together. There's no way I'll go back to stock just for this update. Plus the Google Nexus Prime is on the way to the Market soon, that will be the next device for me....Hope everyone waiting for the update gets it soon. Good luck with that.....

I sure don't understand why you are so excited about the Nexus Prime (you feel you have to tell everyone everytime you post).
My son and a friend at work both have the Fascinate and they are junk. My son is on his 3rd one now. They freeze, don't receive texts, vibration quits working, and they are constantly pulling their batteries just to keep using them.
So those of you waitng for the Nexus Prime Good Luck with that:)

Hey stop reading my posts if you don't like what I am posting. Pretty easy solution. What does the Fascinate have to do with anything? Please keep your negativity to yourself, nobody here needs it....

You are the one with all the negativity:D The Incredible is an Awesome phone and if you don't like it leave
:icon_ banana:You should at least do some research so you know what you are talking about.:icon_ banana: The Nexus Prime is based off of the Fascinate:icon_ banana:

We can all have our opinions. Lets not let the issue of the OTA go into talking about other phones and such.

Back on topic.
