2.3 Update

That's great, I will believe it when I see it. Not saying it's not happening just don't trust the BIG corporations to be honest about what's going on. I don't believe HTC has anything to do with how or when VZW will move forward with this update....someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I was simply looking for answers from anyone who might give one. Verizon wasn't helping and acting like it wasn't in their control so I asked around.
I know it might not be worth much but it is what they said and I am just sharing what I found.

We appreciate you asking :), however, I believe that is one of the pre-written responses that everybody would get. Nothing ever gets personalized.

The most incredible, incredible!

Appreciate the effort and you sharing with us, just sayin' tired of the no answers to the question from either HTC or VZW. Even if the INC gets this update it is the end of the road for this phone. This is the main reason I don't think a lot of effort is going into this upgrade. Again this is just my opinion and conjecture. All I know is I probably won't take the update anyway because I like being rooted and having all the options that go with it. I've been running GB 2.3.4 for months now and after going back to stock 2.2 OS (received a new INC refurbished for a warranty issue) I couldn't believe how different the phone is rooted. It's really a much better experience for me. I will be upgrading soon (waiting for the Google Nexus Prime) so for now I am happy running the aftermarket roms until my upgrade. Good luck to all waiting for this update, hope it comes soon for you all.....

I thought rooting your phone voided the warranty.

If that matters to you then I guess you won't be rooting yours.....again rooting isn't for everyone.

You stated that you had yours replaced after being rooted for a warranty issue. How can that be??

They must be doing a very slow roll out, and possibly only certain areas at a time. My wifes incredible and the two guys at my work that have them got the 2.3.4 update about 2 weeks ago. The update seems to bring back the low memory bug with a vengeance though.

i called vzw last week.the tech toldme that i should be getting the update soon..................

hate to say it, but verizon employees are kept pretty much out of the loop when it comes to things like these, so they're told to say what the customer wants to hear "it's coming soon"

Do I really want it?

The longer it takes the update to get to my phone and the more comments I read, I'm not convinced that I even want it when it gets here. I'm not waiting for any specific problem solutions, and everything I have now works really well. I've seen at least one comment that power usage and battery life isn't really improved much with the update. Should I go with my gut feel of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" or should I really want the update?

Don't forge though battery life is subjective, we all use our phones differently.

From what I keep reading I have read that there is a slight increase in battery from many users. The phone is a bit snappier and runs a bit smoother so I don't see why anyone wouldn't want the update.

The update will roll out to all Incredibles eventually, just a matter of patience, though I wish they did make it available as a manual download....
