.215 ICS Leak

So, just like you could not install 215 over say, 214 the update looks for something specific.
My thinking is it can't very well update unless what is there already is what is expected. Unlike the 211 OTA which totally replaced the OS including kernel and baseband.
The update to 215 relies in many things from 211 already being there. What it changes must work with what is not changed. I think that is the whole reason the update will fail if you are not on the exact version the update is for.

You could be right moset. I think if that ends up being the case there will be an easy fix to go back to stock .211 from .215 just like there was from .214 to .211. I think only time will tell. For some reason, I think FoxKat already has tested out going from .215 to .211 but I could be remembering wrong.

You are correct. I remember foxkat being the Guinea pig

Yep, exactly. That's why if you're on .214 you have to "downgrade" to .211 stock to flash .215. :)

Yep he did. He is the man LOL

Past experience is that devs always come up with a fix.
I just don't want to make matters worse and have to wait for a fix.
I've read much about how to get to 215, not so much about improvements from it.
Battery life is so very subjective and depends on how you use your phone.

You can get many hours on a charge by turning stuff off, using Wifi instead of mobile data, especially not using the screen.
I guess i just have to try for myself and rely on the devs to get me out of a jam if that happens.
They always seem to come through.

Well Moset, if it is any consolation, FoxKat has already proven that we can go from .215 to .211. In addition, Matt l Groff is lightning fast with that kind of stuff. I agree though.... unless it is ridiculously horrible, battery life is so subjective and depends so much on what is going on with a person's phone.

I have found recently that by charging with the phone off then rebooting while still on charge then turning the screen on while still plugged in that my screen use is almost as good as on GB, just over 10%/ hour.
That tells me that something in the charging controls may be preventing a full charge while the phone is turned on.
Could that be one thing 215 fixed?
Also, screen brightness while using auto?

Does it take you back to pure 211?
Including kernel and baseband?
Do you have a link?

If I remember correctly he used RSD Lite to revert to .211 from .215 ... something about the Moto techs use RSD Lite so he used what they used. Let me see if I can find the thread...

And VZW will tell you you can't go back to GB.
My guess is RSD will take you wherever you have SBF files for.
Then again I'm no expert.

There is no going back to GB because of the different Bootloaders, even if you used the GB fastboot files it would brick your phone. Here is a thread I put together, the first part of it has FoxKat's instructions for using RSD and Fastboot files.

No, you can not go back to GB. SO far anyone that has tried, has bricked their phones. Theoretically, it may be possible but no one has created the ability yet.

I have to run out for a bit but I am trying to locate the original thread, and FoxKat is in on it too ... will drop a link as soon as I get back :)
