.215 ICS Leak

I had it set on balanced, so it automatically disables and enables wifi for screen off and during phone calls, etc.

ahh I see, I use the customize option and have it handle mobile data/screen on off connectivity.. no issues with that... well, at least you figured out your issue, and we both have full wifi again dancedroid

If you lose your wifi again, try disabling JD, turn wifi off, then on again and see if it fixes it.

I'm sure someone already asked this question but I haven't had time lately to browse the forums.

I am on .215 and want to know if an OTA update will still install without having to go back to .211? My Maxx is not rooted. Thanks in advance!

Yes an OTA will still install. :)

I'm not doubting just wondering how you can say that with such certainty?
Wouldn't an OTA be set up to update from .211?
That of course is assuming the next OTA is something other than .215. If its .215 there should be no need to update.
No disrespect intended.

I assume the reason he can say it with confidence is because .215 it's a leak, meaning that some customers have received that leak. And any ota would be made not to skip any customers who may have received that leak.

But unlike some previous "leaks" i think.215 was supposed to be for internal use by a select group of testers. I don't remember which one but i recall that a similar "leak" was sent to regular customers by mistake. I don't think that is the case here.

More importantly, is it worth even installing this leak?
I've heard very little from those who have about battery life, data connectivity, etc.
I've heard snapper, no lag, but just a wipe of the cache partition will do that, at least temporally.

I was always among the first to try out the latest leak, or new ROM, back in the days of OG Droid.
Thus far I have not strayed from stock on my Razr Maxx.
I have found apps to do basically everything i remember liking most about those ROMs

Is it worth the risk, no matter how small to move from stock? There is some risk. I'm sure voiding warranty is a slight risk if nothing else.

I don't mean to sound critical, just cautious.

I'm the same way. At least for me, .215 made a world of difference, especially on my battery life. Just about everyone who has installed it has noticed improvements.

Check out my .215 class thread:

No disrespect taken :)

It is still "official" software, it's not something that a dev made somewhere, it got "leaked" and someone who it got leaked to made it available for us little people, because .215 addressed complaints about .211, especially battery life.

And although I am not 100% certain of this, I would bet that the system checks the version on your phone before an OTA is pushed to it.

I have read much of that thread. I appreciate your detailed instructions, very helpful.
Do you see improvements in screen on time power use?
I understand the LTE radio was updated and the kernel. I'm actually getting slightly better overall battery with stock ICS.
It may just be me but I've heard others mention the screen seemed to look better after ICS, the screen use per hour has gone from an average of around 10%/hour on GB to over 12%/hour on ICS for me.
Otherwise the overall battery drain is slightly improved. I use mine a lot, about half my time on battery is with the screen on.
I live in a 3G only area with almost no 4G use. I travel to 4G coverage very seldom.

To what do you credit the improvement in battery life? If it's better 4G signal it will not help me. If it's screen use it will be major.

Do you think if 215 is not the official OTA will we have to/be able to fastboot back to 211?
