[ROM] [6/18/12] CM9 ICS For the Droid Pro

I was having trouble getting my camera to work until I noticed that although the new update would say "successful" it was not actually applying it to my current ROM. I would go to system settings and about phone and the build date was not 3/21. I fixed this by booting to recovery and wiping everything. I also went into "mounts and storage" and chose "format /system" "format /cache" "format /preinstall" and "format /data". I then flashed the update and everything is working great. After that I did an "advanced restore" and restored my data from the 3/4 update. Now all is well.

Okay, so in my attempt to try out utter!, I found out that on this ROM, voice recognition is completely insane. Half the time it doesn't work (just returns "no matches found"), and the other half, it returns a completely different match from what I actually said. It's not just utter!, either. I tried stock Voice Actions, as well as SpeakToIt. Anybody else notice this problem?

I haven't tried any other apps, but the stock voice recognition seems to work fine for me. The first couple tries I was either getting nothing or some random garbage, but now it is working ok. I'll try utter! out and see if I get any different results.

Apparently the manual formats are the trick. Mine now works as well.

Does ICS CM9 provide better battery life than Stock GB or GB CM7?

Battery really depends on what you use your phone for. In my case, the stock rom has better battery performance than any of the custom roms (apex/cm7/cm9). I don't use blur and run very few updating widgets or social functions. So, with that basis it's better. Of course, the performance on cm9 is much better than stock. Since I have spare batteries, the performance is more important than the battery (everyone learns when they get an android phone to buy extra batteries..haha).

Installed CM9 ICS last night its working decently do far! Camera works as it should at this point, though I do seem to be getting random reboot and force closes. I cannot go into Sound settings as Settings f/cs when I do so. The browser and various apps f/c for no reason. Battery life is okay so far. Is there any way to fix these problems? I've cleared cache, Dalvik cache, and fixed permissions to no avail.

For enabling gsm data on the new build (21-03) you can try: ...."...To make data work you need to do another workaround - the one with adding ro.telephony.ignore.linkiperror = true to build.prop "
From rootzwiki... (post 1140)

I know I don't post here much but I have been following development since the early cm7 days. So far everything on CM9 is amazing; the battery life and the camera updates are fantastic. I enabled "force gpu acceleration" and it has also resulted in apps such as facebook and twitter running faster.

The one issue I have encountered, except for sound fcing in settings, glitches when charging. When the battery is low (>10%) and I plug it into a charger, the phone shuts down. When the phone has a higher charge percentage and I plug it in to charge, the screen becomes unresponsive and I cannot unlock the phone until I unplug it. The screen becoming unresponsive however happens much less often.

I am just curious if this has occurred to anyone else. I know that reading through the rootzwiki thread D2G users have experienced similar problems. The issue also seems to occur regardless of whether force gpu is enabled or not.

Did that work for you? I'm not running CM9 right now so I can't easily test it myself.

Hey hydrogen9, just wanted to confirm that I have also seen this issue, or something close to it. Definitely the screen freeze on plugging in, sometimes. Actually, it is a temporary hang, and after a minute it will either unlock and operate normally, or reboot the phone. I haven't been using gpu acceleration. Thought it was a problem with how I flashed the rom or something. Glad to hear it might just be a glitch. I've been getting a lot of reboots and freezes, actually. Maybe because I came over from Apex right to the 3-21 build?

Where is the option to "force gpu acceleration"? I haven't seen that in this ROM but I could just be looking in the wrong place.
