[ROM] [6/6/2012] CM7 for the Droid Pro based on GB

Hey Jackpot how is that ice cream sandwich tasting, they say that there is two more getting worked on too for ICS

Bump... this is happening to me as well, and as much as I'm in love with this ROM (thanks clavin!) it might be a dealbreaker if I can't type.

After all, the keyboard is the whole reason I bought the Pro...

For right now, you can install a different keyboard from the market and disable the stock Android keyboard.

I've found that if your data cuts out if you lose signal, calling your voicemail real quick and hanging up once it connects brings data connectivity back

Because when i call my data disconnect and then reconnect?
Such as disable and then renable my data?
And my wifi is down again with error under wifi...
I'm trying with fixedataswitch...

I disabled Android Keyboard and set it to only use the physical one. Is there a way to set the hold-and-press on the search key trigger voice input for emails/texts as well as voice search?

Edit: What is the most recent build? I installed 1005 from the first post, should I be using 1015? If so, where can one find it?

Have people been seeing noticeably improved battery life with CM7 over stock?

I'm admittedly new to the "advanced" Android scene and before transitioning to CM7 from my 2.3.3 rooted, I figured I'd ask about the benefit I hope to see most - battery life. Will my efforts yield great results in that regard?

Thank you all for everything - for questions past, present, and those to come when I make the move to CM7 (as I suspect I will).

The short answer is yes.
I have no specifics for you but I used to only get about 10 hours on froyo, then went to about 14 on GB.
Now on CM7 it looks like I can easily go past 24.
I do have an extended battery though.

I'm not really a heavy phone user but I do listen to music for about an hour a day, make about 5 calls minimum, send about 15 texts and check social networks and these board plenty of times.

Yes I was.
I mean while on froyo I used my phone a lot more because it was still new.
But it refused to last through a workday even if I had it on battery saver more and never took it out of my pocket.
The extended battery made that better, but not even close to good.

GB itself when the leak came out seemed to help a LOT.
But it still wouldn't last the entire day. So for those longer than normal days (up between 6 and 7, home by midnight or later) I was basically not allowed to use my phone at all god forbid I would need it for an emergency.

Now on CM7 I have little worries.
Its still a smartphone, so if I have a long day ahead of me I have to hold back on the usage a bit. But at least I don't have to refrain from using it at all.

I hope that clears up my experience with it for you.

24 hours with an extended battery?! Wow that's insane! Personally, I get no less than 12 with heavy usage, and up to around 15-16 with normal usage and 18+ with light use. Yesterday, I got around 13 hours with very heavy usage and areas with a poor signal. I had my display on for over 2+ hours too

I get maybe 14 hours or so usually. This is with moderate usage...streaming music for 30ish minutes, web browsing for 30 minutes, and other general usage for an hour or so. I'm on the stock battery, though, which was a pretty weak battery to begin with.

Well its really hard to give a time. Since it all depends on the amountr of usage.
I really need to learn to be more specific.
If I do not use the phone for anything other then a few texts and just leave it in my pocket, it will reach 24 hours easily. I haven't tried leaving it unplugged to see if it can get to 36 that way, but I have a suspicion it can. Next time I go camping I will find out.

With my usage (which means I check twitter/facebook/forums quite a bit along with some calls and texts) I go through a normal 16 hour day with ease. Most of the time with that usage I end up with 40% by the time I go to bed.
