[ROM] [6/6/2012] CM7 for the Droid Pro based on GB

If you're on Gingerbread 4.6.8:
1) Install Bootstrapper
2) Boostrap Recovery
3) Reboot Recovery
4) Wipe data, cache, and dalvik (probably not necessary, but I do it anyway)
5) Install .zip from SD Card and choose the file
6) Wipe data, cache, and dalvik
6) Let it complete, then choose Install .zip from SD card again and choose the Gapps one

Before I go and download a tether program from the Market, can anyone let me know how to access the native Wifi Tether in CM7 (if, in fact, it exists)? If no native Wifi tether exists, any recommendations for one from the Market?

It's not built-in to this version of CM7. In the market, 'barnacle wifi tether' works. The best way, far as I know, is to download this app: android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting
I can confirm that Beta 9 works well, but you must change the "device profile" to "motorola droid x" in the settings.

Two questions if anyone can chime in with some assistance:

1. Is anyone having trouble dialing numbers from your contacts that begin with a + sign? All of my numbers have the + prefix so that I can quickly dial when travelling globally. (eg +1-508-555-1212). When dialing from my contacts with CM7, Verizon is throwing a fast busy back to me. If I manually remove the + sign, the call goes thru. I can't find any assisted dialing options in Settings and I've tried a few alternate dialers to see if they have assisted dialing options to solve this. This worked on the stock GB builds without issue. Any ideas?

2. Is there a quick way back to GB 468 from CM7 or do I have to SBF all the way back and start over. I have tried to install GB 468 via the update.zip on the sdcard using recovery from ROM Manager, but am getting an error "assert failed... error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7). Installation aborted". Is a CM7 back to GB 468 possible?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Wifi Tether in Infrastructure Mode?

Hi, everything with this rom is working great after a couple of reflashes, but I was wondering if there was a way to wifi tether in infrastructure/access point mode rather than ad-hoc?
I can use wifi tether for rooted devices, barnacle, etc. to tether, but I need the ability for infrastructure mode. I believe the Droid Pro supports this feature? Thanks for the help!

Heya Jackpot,

Hope you are having a Happy New Year! ;) Curious how far along you've gotten with ICS for our Droid Pro? Loooove to be one of your Alpha testers when it's ready. Thanks again for all the hard work!

Best,
-B

Howdy folks, long time, no talk

I've been busy with porting ICS to the Kindle Fire and finals with school but on this fine weekend I decided to work on CM9 for the Droid Pro like old times :-D

It's very buggy (a lot of force closes) but it's also pretty fast and smooth. So far, the radio works, wifi works, the camera doesn't, bluetooth should and other things work that I cannot remember anymore

The only downside is that the screen is stuck in landscape so you have to hold it sideways to do anything which makes typing very difficult as it's sideways at all times. I've attached some screenshots of what it's gonna look like :-) as you can see, it's stuck in landscape for now, but it'll be fixed shortly and there will be a super alpha in the upcoming weeks

I am looking forward to the new CM9 builds as well. I love CM7 on my Droid Pro, and I keep trying the new builds, but I keep leaving because the wifi/mobile data problems are too much for me. I need a more reliable network connection, and the three-month old Apex 2.0 just works.

Discovering the SD Card

Hi all. I posted a while ago that my computer will not recognize my DP CM7 via USB. I chalked that up to my Macbook being difficult. Now, I've discovered that Astro can't see/mount the SD card either. I keep getting "error loading external cache."

Any thoughts/tips/tricks?

Quick question. I'm looking for a custom ROM to put on my daughter's DP. She's been having serious stability issues on the latest OTA GB update. Looks like this is the best candidate. Can anyone summarize what you give up by going from Motoblur to CM7? Is there a list of known issues with this build?

Thanks. BTW - I'm very familiar with rooting and custom ROMs - just not the Droid Pro. I'm currently running CM7 on my Thunderbolt (very happily I might add) after having tried every major Sense based ROM out.

I hate to put this here, but the VorteX ROM for the pro is about as close to moto blur as you can get, from what I here its pretty stable, while the CM7 builds are great some have data and wifi issues.

BAD ASS X
