[ROM] [6/6/2012] CM7 for the Droid Pro based on GB

Great, seems like we face the same roadblock here Jackpot.

I have successfully built a ROM with almost everything working, except for Camera (certainly and the keypad making the phone assume that it should be on landscape). I used KANG's as the base so I guess it inherited that from some setting on the DROID 1/2/3 line that assumes you have the keypad open horizontally when you have the keypad popped out which is always the case for us.

Also the 'b' key for some reason is not working, which, irritates the hell out of me.

I don't want to hijack Jackpot's thread so anyone who thinks thay they can deal with the problem is welcome to try my ROM on the other thread.

EDIT: After flashing for the 3rd time, backlight seems to be fixed.

I did follow the guideline of only restoring the apps (and data) to non system components. This did not seem to impact the backlight, though did make sure I tested the backlight working both before and after restoring with Titanium. It's possible that some system setting would have been impacted by a full Titanium restore. But as a rule of thumb, I generally restore my individual apps w/ data but let system apps run fresh and know which ones I want to change well enough I'm willing to spend a few extra minutes to make the setting modifications I like.

After you restore everyhting (application + application data & settings) via Titanium could you post a follow-up?
Someone suggested that restoring any settings/data via Titanium via could be the culprit.

But it just could be of course that after a reflash, we just need to wipe data and perform a factory reset.

All lowercase is correct: the command cd should be lowercase and as it happens the full path is also lowercase /data/misc/wifi

Try this in the terminal (> is terminal prompt):
> su (grant superuser rights)
> cd /data/misc (goto folder /data/misc)
> ls -d (list directories of current folder i.e. /data/misc)

if you see wifi amongst the listed directories, you can continue, if not something is wrong
> cd wifi
> mv wpa_supplicant.conf wpa_supplicant.conf.bak

This issue is still persisting. Does anyone have a fix?

When I run ls -d, I get "." Back. That's it. I still do the mv command, and it may be working because I do have to reset the wifi password, but I still have no net access.

Just wanted to mention that I noticed I also wasn't getting any connectivity over Wifi. All I did was install SetDNS (as per hsimpson's recommendation), then before doing anything else I opened up SetDNS, granted superuser permissions, and hit "Apply". i closed SetDNS, turned on my Wifi, everything worked fine. Didn't need to do fix permissions or reboot, and SetDNS isn't popping up.

I think I have a more simple fix for the keyboard backlight issue than completely reflashing the ROM.

I too was having the keyboard backlight issue after installing the 1125G ROM from stock Gingerbread... but by the time I noticed, I had pretty much gotten my phone to where I wanted it. Total bummer. I tried the app that forces the keyboard on always, no dice... I tried the toggle with auto-backlight trick in the settings, it would bring the keyboard on, but not automatically. All I could do was trigger it for that instance. The second I turned my screen off and back on again, no keyboard backlight. I also noticed that auto-brightness was both not impacting the actual brightness, it would stay at whatever the last manual setting was, and that the keyboard was also being controlled by the same backlight setting. So for a while, it was triggering but was at such a dim level on the backlight, it did not even appear as if the keyboard was illuminated.

I didn't want to reflash... what if I bricked it again and had to cycle through all the previous stock .sbfs? So much time, so much hassle... So after exhausting all the settings on that install, I decided I was determined to get the keyboard backlight working even if it meant .sbfing the whole gambit, but wanted to experiment before I claimed defeat and reflashed 1125G. So I rebooted into recovery and did wipe data/factory reset as well as wipe cache partition... rebooted the phone and it worked!

So, I still have to reinstall everything, but Titanium will make that easy. Needless to say, one less step to fix the keyboard issue. Not entirely sure what did it, but I'd maybe suggest as a best practice for first time installs to 1125G that after the initial flash is successful, reboot into recovery and do one more wipe before setting up the phone.

Anyway Calvin, been enjoying your ROM for a while and still do. It's small but happy I was able to contribute a lil bit. If anyone else tries this and it works, please say so in order for others to enjoy. And thank you to the community of dedicated Droid Pro users, you guys rock.

:)

I originally posted what fixed my keyboard backlight issue a few pages ago, but as far as reflashing taking to much time-I just reflashed my phone cause the 3g just wouldn't work after my phone froze and just restarted itself. So I did a wipe and reflash, it only took me 10 min from the wipe till my phone was back to where I had it!! I have titanium backup pro doing a scheduled backup at 6am every day, and before I havta do a system wipe/restore I just manualy backup my sms and call log via titanium backup!!

So we use like 20 droid pros at my company. Been testing this rom on 3 of them for a while, works fantastic! Many thanks.

Is there any way I can tweak a phone and install all our office apps and then create a new rom from it to copy onto all the other phones? I made a backup rom with ROM Manager but that way includes user settings. I'd like to create a company rom that doesn't include email account settings from the source phone, for example.

BTW I have been using Go Launcher EX with this rom instead of the default ADW because I need to put apps in folders. In case anyone was wondering, Go launcher works great on this phone. Only glitch so far is sometimes icons vanish if you rotate to landscape and back too fast on the home screen. Just rotate again slower and they come back, or lock/unlock.

I've used the holiday break to take the CM7 plunge. I took a rooted GB 464 Droid Pro, SBF'd back to 387, then GB 468, then onto CM7. Everything is working great... you really don't realize how much Motorola's bloatware really hurts the user experience until you try CM7. Even my keyboard backlight works again for the first time in months! :-) Kudos to everyone involved in making this all possible.

One question that I haven't been able to find an answer for is the straight scoop on Wifi Tethering. Everywhere I've read indicates that CM7 supports Wifi Tether out of the box. But, for the life of me, I cannot find any way to enable it. The only option I am seeing in Settings is for USB tether. Nothing mentioning wireless tether is listed anywhere.

Before I go and download a tether program from the Market, can anyone let me know how to access the native Wifi Tether in CM7 (if, in fact, it exists)? If no native Wifi tether exists, any recommendations for one from the Market?

Thx in advance.

hi guys, need help here. i'm unable to install this rom into my droid pro. this is my 1st time doing this, before this i'm on stock GB rom. i've followed the instructions correctly i presumed, on GB 4.6.8, rooted, installed the bootstraps, wiped everything, put the cm7 into the SD card and install thru recovery. but it got stuck at verifying the update package-->E:failed to verify whole-file signature, E:signature verification failed. installation aborted. any idea what did i do wrong or missed?

Did you unzip the file before you tried it? If so, that's your problem.
