ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

Still waiting in Baltimore... :frown:

Me, too, Lucas. I've gained some serenity and am just patiently waiting. If I don't get it OTA by end of the week, I may be upgrading manually. I just got my droid a few weeks back, so I'm still hesitant to tinker by myself.

Got it last night in Los Angeles.

ver 2.2 FRG01B

After all these thousands of posts on this forum, I'm not sure what the big deal is. I was unimpressed. Looks like a few different layouts and some extra screens.

Maybe someone can school me on why this is such a HOT update!

Thanks all...
Built-in Flash support, JIT compiling that increases speed up to 5x depending on the application, better memory handling, more capable and faster browser, better security, Apps2SD, Bluetooth voice dialing, upgraded Voice Search capability (once you download it), and one more thing for people who are never satisfied by anything to complain about. Oh, and some lag right at the start while everything syncs back up.

Sounds like a great upgrade to me. :)

I got tired of waiting an did the manual DL last night. Any details on the two items highlighted above? I see the "SD Card" label in the app manager, but don't know how to move apps or save new apps to the SD card. Also, is there any concern over differences between the download version linked on Droid Life vs. OTA?

Same here. I was really only waiting for the additional home screens, but I just installed LauncherPro, which will give you up to 7. But I may also try manually updating if I don't get the OTA soon.

Go to the app store and download apps2sd to move apps to your sd card. Also download the new Google Voice Search. You need the apps2sd program to move existing apps to the sd card. Regarding your other question, the FRG01B file is the same regardless of whether you receive it ota or download it from my experience. However I've seen it mentioned that people have had issues with the OTA so I chose to download and manually install.

Also if you are an MS Exchange user you can now accept/reject meeting notices from your email just like you can in Outlook rather than having to go find them on your calendar and without having to use a third party app (plus they got rid of the corporate calendar and allow you to manage all of your calendars, google, exchange, etc. from a single app). That feature alone is HOT.

I just downloaded to my PC, the file at the link given at the start of this long thread, and I noticed that it is 76.9 MB. I got the file at this link:
9046f5a3ec09.signed-voles-ota-45394.zip

I thought from the various posts and threads that I have read on the 2.2 update that the official Verizon OTA update being pushed out now is like 48 or 49 MB. So before I proceed to update my phone, I would like to know from some of you wizards in the know, where can I download the CORRECT UPDATE? And what is the correct file size?

Much thanks!

I did the manual update to 2.2, from a nonrooted moto droid. All seems fine except I can no longer play any of my videos that were in the my_flix folder. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the list!! I guess I'll notice stuff once I start using it! My favorite thing so far is the auto dock and the ability to set my own icons.

Apps2SD is native in FroYo. The dev has to enable it within the app itself, but take a look and see what you can move. Apps take up less space on the SD card and there's no performance penalty to running them from the SD card, with the possible exception of the occasional custom icon being replaced with a stock index card icon.
