ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

Still waiting for my update... but that's because I now have NO Droid.

Of course my store would have no refurb models... but, I'm getting a brand new Droid 1 instead, I just have to wait until the 18th.

I may see if they can force the update for me since i'll already be at the store. I almost lost it today though... separating a female college student from her phone is just asking for trouble lol.

Good luck getting them to flash the update. Make sure your store can do software installs -- Store Locator - Verizon Wireless should tell you if they can or not. It's slim pickin's around here.

And we feel your pain. Glad it's working out for you, though. :)

Reminds me of when there were updates to my Voyager. They weren't OTA; you had to go into the store. Posts on the Voyager Forums were more about how long it took them to do an update and if it worked.

Just did the update manually. Its on the red droid eye for a few minutes now but it got past the Motorola M which other people were having issues with. Did a battery pull because it was stuck on the lock screen. now its up and running but its really slow and unresponsive. Im giving it some time for everything to gel in. I have hyped froyo up in my mind for months now, I hope I didn't hype it TOO much and feel unsatisfied by the update.

One of the nice things about Android is if you don't like it, you can fix it. Maybe it's a case of needing a new Launcher, maybe it's a case of giving up and rooting to get it to do what you want, but no matter what, you can make it work! :)

The update, even for stock, is pretty cool. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

UPDATE: I don't know what I did, but the 2.2 nag screen reminder is gone now. Maybe it times out after 24 hours? I did power cycle the phone once for another reason. The update still does show up as being downloaded and ready to install, but at least it is not nagging me.

I had an issue where I could not update a couple of apps. Had to actually download the Android SDK and use a terminal window to uninstall via command line, then reinstall from Market. Took care of that last night, so I have all of the kinks ironed out now.

Now I'm just sitting here watching different ROMs to see which one to try next. Any ROM based on FRG01B is one I'll consider. No problems at all with Bugless Beast 0.4, but I'm looking for something with more features to it. I figure since I went to the trouble to root it, I may as well go completely over the edge. :D

For those wondering if Froyo is worth the wait? I say it is. That's why I hopped onto Bugless Beast so fast. I now have Flash installed, GIFs are animated, and I noticed the phone was more responsive and a bit slicker once everything settled in. I also think BB was overclocked as well, but I have an overclocking kernel installed now and can reliably run as high as 1100MHz on the Droid 1. Life is good! :D

Back to lurk mode...and thanks to those who replied to my original problem above!

Try Cyanogenmod 6 RC-3. It just dropped and so did my jaw when I saw all the features, tweaks, and, well, awesomeness. Want an equalizer for the music you listen to? It has an app for that -- rear speaker, headset/headphones, and Bluetooth.

OK, tempt me... :D From what I've read, it seems to be one of the ROMs with the most tweakability to it. Don't get me wrong: BB is nice, and it's stable, but I was hoping for more I could do with it.

Any stability issues with CM6 RC3?

I may try it next week. I'm buried in homework from the summer semester right now. Must...avoid...Droid tweaking... ;)

Thanks!

I've had it since last night and the only issue I've had is some new behavior with the notification LED -- which is now 100% customizable. It's not bad, just new.

And the power widget alone... My Gods...

I saw that about the LED. If I read correctly, you can customize the color for different notifications. That would be neat!

Last question before I head back to my essays: what have you found is the best way to backup the data from my apps? A couple of times I reloaded, I lost some of the data. Such as, in a mileage app, it lost all of my entries for gasoline fill-ups. Titanium Backup is already installed. I don't have a problem entering all of my login info again, but it can get tedious if you've done it a few times. I tried a couple of other backups, but they weren't very good. (I ended up uninstalling them.) I always run a backup from SPRecovery before doing anything, so I have that end of it covered...

I sacrifice my data for the fresh installs. If I can't live without it and/or am unsatisfied with the ROM, I restore the nandroid I just made and run it. However, I haven't done it once since RC-1, RC-2 was better, and I don't see myself flashing RC-3 off for any reason whatsoever except for RC-4 or straight up 6.0.

If you'd ever eaten my cooking, you'd understand how picky I am, and why this is a sweeping statement. :)
