[ROM] [Alpha] Ics4Bionic 01-25-2012

Hold down the power button. It will pop up power menu. Select reboot. Wait until Safestrap screen appears. Hit menu (settings) button. You will reboot into safestrap recovery screen. Scroll down to Safestrap menu. Click power button. Selector should be on Toggle safestrap. Select with power button. Scroll to yes. It will do some backing up and finallly say something on the order of You are now in Unsafe mode. Select go back and click power button. Select Reboot system now. Let it go all the way past splash screen and should boot into your DD ROM (unsafe mode)

BTW, sometimes the boot on the ICS is a little slow. If you think you have a BSOD, give it some time. It's not always what you think with this thing.

First to the developer of SafeStrap...AMAZING! Way to show Motorola & Verizon that the developer community can NOT be held back by locking the bootloader! Might as well unlock it Moto/VZN!!!!

To the developer of ICS4Bionic! also AMAZING!!! Way to beat the manufacturers to the punch I put ICS on the Bionic BEFORE 5.5.893 OTA even rolls out!!!! Great work!

My observations...I only played with ICS briefly just to see what it can do...It is going to be GREAT once it gets to us fully (OTA or developer)! A few things I couldn't get to work (and may have been mentioned so forgive me if I repeat)...I couldn't get the wallpaper to show on my homescreen...it stayed black even when selecting wallpaper from both gallery & the stock wallpaper app.Market worked great but I didn't try to install any apps yet...I figured I'd wait a bit to see what comes out next. When changing ringtones I couldn't get them to play so I figured it had something to do with the audio issue mentioned in the OP. Also, the battery percentage showed as 30% in ICS yet when I rebooted into rooted stock (5.7.893) is said 68% ? I do haver an extended battery & I did not clear the battery stats in recovery...

I really thing Google NAILED an iPhone killer with ICS!!! I think this will be the Android version that will take sales away from Apple! GREAT job developers! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

Use the quick toggle if it doesnt let you but make sure you made a back up just in case u stay in a bootloop

everytime u switch between safe system and unsafe it backs up data. quick toggle doesnt do a backup

I* was so nervous I didnt even get to read your post but that is what I did I knew I had a backup I folowed video and it said to. The first time I tried it it said couldnt find files then I pressed verify and it did tried again and it worked. I wonder why that happened. I went back and forth once went back again then I tried to go back to unsafe again everything went good then I got BSOD I think I have only got 1 BSOD since I got the phone way back at the begining. Was getting ready to do a fast boot recovery tried one more time and it worked. How is that gonna work next time I go in? I think I should just do wipe and load alpha7 over again correct I dont think I deleted it but dont want to take any chanses. Thanks for your reply though

AHHHH! You know it is a pain when it backs up data...takes a while. BUT is that for the whole account? Meaning if I decided NOT to back up data the next time I boot into ICS I have to set up my account again? Or is this just for app data?

Thanks!

if you mean next time you go to safe system enabled then yes, what i did was wipe data factory reset, wipe cache, under advance wipe dalvik, under mounts and storage format system and it worked, u really cant mess it up if your in safe system u always have your backup.

yea it does take a while but if your going to be switching between roms then i would do it the long way. and it should be the whole account. if you notice once u leave the disabled safe system into safe mode it also backs up and once u go back to you safe system disabled it should restore everything as when you left it
