[ROM] [Alpha] Ics4Bionic 01-25-2012

yep that's correct. To get back to your bootstrap systems, you'll do the reverse and uninstall safestrap and reinstall bootstrap and flash CWR and you're good.

Got it. So, the only downside with Safestrap is that one can only have 2 ROMS at a time, unlike a Bootstrap where one can flash repeatedly other saved ROM's but spend time wiping, etc. I do like the fact one doesn't have to wipe between flashes in Safestrap.

I also found the Safestrap process slightly faster than Bootstrap.

So, I need to uninstall Safestrap, re-install Bootstrap, reload my original Stock ROM made in Bootstrap, then uninstall Bootstrap, reinstall Safestrap and backup the original stock in Safestrap and then flash whatever ROM I want to use in Safestrap?

That way I have a backup of original stock in each version of "strap:" Boot and Safe. LOL

Moreover, I see Safestrap beneficial for those who don't change ROM's often. Case in point: a buddy of mine just got his first smartphone which is the Bionic and wants me to root his phone. He probably would enjoy the option of another ROM (like KIN3TX) but would not be one to flash others and would stay with one proven ROM. This way, I can back up his stock rooted (so he stays on upgrade path) while he can choose another ROM to his liking and can easily switch between the two w/o wiping.

Safestrap uses an extra partition on the phone to install the second ROM instead of sdcard like other programs

I've had an issue with the Phone process a couple times in the past few days - it just stops over and over. I'm unable to make or receive calls. Reloading the ROM seems to resolve the issue.

Also, Facebook and Twitter seem to get bogged down after extended use and end up force closing.

And ideas?

This happened to me today.. Not sure if this is what caused it, but it happened right after switching to WCDMA preferred in the testing menu and rebooting. Upon rebooting is when it happened. I had to use supersonic finger speed in order to change back to CDMA/LTE before it force closed again.

Pretty strange. Was just trying to get 3G working. So far I can't get it to stay connected, but it has popped a few times. Same with 4G.

Since taking the update yesterday, I'm still having the phone process not function at all.

Also, the app drawer closes while scrolling through pages of widgets - every time, without fail.

Is anyone else having these issues?

I've had 3G working for days straight using the GSM only option. I tried switching those options while the phone was failing, though Idk if the phone not functioning is connected to the radio option chosen. It would make sense if that were the issue and I will check it out.

The new radio is not compatible with the old ril libs. You have to use the ones from 901.

Nevermind. I can't read.

How do we do that?

lilhill - that being the 901 radios?
It's pretty much spelt out in the RW thread - grab the zip from the op, and after you flash ICS4BIONIC copy the files from the zip to /system/lib using root explorer. Go to post 125, it has a copy of ICS4BIONIC alpha10 with the files already baked in.
