[ROM] [Alpha] Ics4Bionic 01-25-2012

No, what you want to do is uninstall bootstrap, then install safestrap. but don't delete rom manager because you can still use it later. Here are the steps:

1. Download Alpha 10 zip, place on your SD card internal or external.
2. uninstall bootstrapper and install safestrap .apk
3. open safestrap apk and install recovery
4. reboot phone and press menu when prompted for safestrap recovery.
5. select Safe boot Menu and select toggle safe system and select yes.
This will back up your current system/rom and put you into safe mode. Meaning you can flash ICS and revert back to Liberty when your done without having to wipe and reinstall.
6. After enabling safe system, wipe data/cache
7. Advanced-->Wipe dalvick cache
8. Mounts and storage-->format/system
9. After this you can install the zip from your SD card. After installing, reboot system.

When your done playing around in the rom, reboot into safestrap and disable safe system.

10. Safeboot menu-->toggle safe system. Once that's done, you can reboot your system and you'll be back in Liberty.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks! That really helps. Just few more questions to uninstall bootstap, I just delete the bootstrap.apk correct? And also, uninstalling bootstrap shouldn't affect liberty right? Otherwise I got it. Thanks. Will try it out :)

This is great! Thanks for the easy indtructions, I took the plunge and tried out the alpha. Coming along nicely and quite appealing. Now how do I flip back and
forth between the two? I did go back to my saved recovery.

To go back to your original rom, boot back into safestrap. go back into safe boot menu and toggle the safe system to disabled. once it's done, you can reboot and you'll be back to the original rom.

I already did that. I meant how do I go back to alpha again? Do I go through the whole zip process again? Is there a way to save alpha and its settings to come back to like bootstrap?

Ok, been on 5.7.893 for a long time. Finally reverted to full stock and applied the official ota, then applied the 5.9.901 update.

Has anyone gotten ICS4 BIONIC working with that kernel and radio combination? I get continual no service....

Nope all you have to do is toggle safe system to enabled and reboot and you'll be back in to alpha. Each time you toggle, it saves the system data, so you can kinda dual boot between two roms.

Ok got it. And now I don't have to wipe anything again going back and forth, correct? But how do I get back to my stock system I saved in bootstrap?

No DH still is working on the data. the most anyone can get is 1x and even that is tricky.

yep that's correct. To get back to your bootstrap systems, you'll do the reverse and uninstall safestrap and reinstall bootstrap and flash CWR and you're good.
