Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Yes I think my case is a testament to how random it is. My phone was right next to hers when it showed. ...
she does not even care about the update! !

No, there is a sensor in the Droid that allows Verizon to do the update in reverse order of desire for it.

Needless to day I was the first Droid purchased at Verizon the first day it went on sale and I got nothin yet.

I'm doing the manual install today.

Got the Update OTA This Morning!!!

I got the update over the air this morning. I did a factory data reset, as some had recommended. After the reset (~5 min), I waited for sync and did the update (~5 min), and noticed that all of my downloads appeared in my downloads folder. However I headed to work and then my downloads disappeared. Luckily I had backed up my applications with Astro and also emailed myself a list through Listables. Pretty cool how most of the stuff came back though. The update is awesome, even with live wallpapers on its snappier and quicker. New gallery is also cool.

Just wondering on the update: I know it rolls out to 200,000 a day.. Is that throughout the day, or does it all push at once at midnight? Just curious.

Same here; waited like a good boy and got mine last night around 12:30AM. The only thing I don't really like is how the live wallpapers are treated almost like a regular application, and basically just run on top of your regular background image. Since I use TasKiller quite often I had to put the live wallpaper processes in the ignore list otherwise I'm sure I'd keep killing them and end up never using them. I usually only leave my Gmail and work mail running and kill everything else. I like the Neural Network LP and I also got Starfield from the market. I too notice a slight bit of lag with them but it's no show-stopper.

I wasn't dying for this update to begin with contrary to many, but am I the only one who feels like a hotfix of sorts is in the midst? Seems reasonable since the firmware version says 2.1-update1. Perhaps someone was right who said they tossed out the update to shut us up and they're planning on throwing in a couple other features and/or fixing other small bugs in 2.1-update2.

Has anyone seen any issues with the forced update vs. the OTA update? Both my wife and I have a Droid. I forced mine but not hers, as she wants to wait for the OTA update. I keep telling her its no different, but I want to know if any of you guys have actually seen a difference at all.

i got my update at 1 am and i hit install and it did it quickly and all, but now my phone wont start. it keeps cycling from the droid to the eye thing back to the droid. any ideas its really pissing me off. ive pulled the battery and all.

Were you rooted before the install?

ahh the hell with it. I am not waiting. I installed it manually. lol
Thanks guys. I got it to work and that **** was easy as hell.
