Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

i use the "xScope" browser and before I "upgraded" to 2.1, i was able to get video on msnbc, etc. now i can't....think i may go back to 2.0.1 if this is what i'm getting

thats xscopes issue not 2.1, 2.1 is gonna be the platform everything with be based off of. DO NOT GO BACK TO 2.0.1

Got my 2.1 OTA update. decided not to go for it until someone roots 2.1

I like my overclocked phone. :[ plus i've been reading theres only 3 screens? weeeak

I live in the suburbs, near Chicago...I got my update this morning. I got my phone on 12/22/09. This update is truly random... Hang tight, it's coming.

I got a message this morning warning me I couldn't make any calls during the update, not even emergency calls. After checking the house thoroughly to ensure no knife-wielding hoodlums were lurking in my closet whom I might wish to call 911 on, I let it proceed.

It took about ten minutes of nervously keeping my hands off the DROID for fear I might do something to corrupt the download and brick the phone because going to Verizon on a weekend is an experience I never want to repeat again. I'd have to pack a lunch or order pizza.

Once it rebooted everything seemed normal enough, and I checked the system in settings to see it had Version 2.1 Update 1. All in all, no problems like others seem to have had.

My phone is totally stock, no mods, no rooting, no nothing except for a sticker with the phone number because I never call myself so I can't remember it to save my life.

I did a factory reset after I installed 2.1, I was having lag/chop issues with the app drawer. After I did the reset, and installed all of the apps (84 of them) I noticed that the lag was gone, and it is nice and smooth.

Pinch zoom is nice..

Love the live wallpapers.

Speech to text is fabulous. I haven't used the keyboard to send a text all day... just call up the virtual keyboard, press the microphone key, and speak... If you speak clear with the Droid within a foot of your mouth, it is almost 100% accurate in translating speech to text.

Yeah, I'm from the south 'burbs.

I don't really care much about the update, honestly. I'm doing fine with what I have now. It's more about how random the update is being sent out, and how they're doing it in random increments that makes me confused.

It has been posted in here and in other threads a million times.... Adobe, the maker of Flash Player is NOT releasing Flash for Droid until sometime later this year. Verizon and Motorola have NOTHING to do with it's distribution, it was NOT going to bundled with the 2.1 release, it will most likely be available in the Market as a download when it becomes available... Most likely sometime in the next couple of months.

You guys have been great but why not take out the ban stick - I think many of us are tired of hearing "why did I wait this stinks rooting was way better".

It's bad enough that ever other post shows disappointment that there are three screens and no 3d app drawer - if people spent 10 minutes on this forum they would have knows that... umm... about 500 times.

Oh yeah.. one quirky note about Speech to Text: If you use an obscene word while speaking, the translation will result in "####" being displayed in place of the bad word.... I found that kind of funny....
