Well, I was wondering where we were on this. One post here and that brings me right up to date. So it's out there and we're waiting for the zip or ota at this point, correct?

NO ONE HAS IT. God. IF someone had it and didn't accidentally upgrade, it would be posted. Saying that clogs up this forums for actual questions and stuff. When someone has it, you will hear about it.

I thought I read somebody did have it. They said they would send pictures when they got home.

Sorry guys... but as long as they are not releasing it, things are becoming better. If they would of released ere25, everyone would of been happy. But no, they didn't. THey made it better and came out with ese53. Everyone again wanted it released. But again, they refused. Now were at ese81. I'm sure its great... but I don't want it released. Keep working on it. Make it even better. Never ever release it. Except in unofficial leaks for us to use.

CK I know you said this thread root discussions are not allowed. But please either allow this particular question or move it to hack section. Please do not delete. I want to know if 2.1 is rootable.

Pilot I have to delete rooting questions. There is a whole subforum for those questions to be asked and it's not fair to those that come here to be subjected to the relentless rooting questions/comments.

We'd do the same in the hacking section with non-rooters.

We have sections set up for this very issue. They can start a thread in the Rescue Squad area or the Hacking section. Not a problem.

But under no conditions are rooting questions allowed in the "stock" 2.1 thread.

True true. You have to nip it in the bud or you guys will have a root/unroot war going on again. I understand, I will have to wait for the answer to that question a little longer.

2.1 update.zip for rooted roms

Ok, my roommate has confirmed that he will give me the update.zip as soon as he gets it and i will share it... now a few questions

1) can this be applied via the standard update.zip method? (nandroid)
2) will this update.zip remove the root access, i.e not be able to access sprecoverey anymore?

I am hoping that I could make a nandroid back up, apply the 2.1 update.zip, and mess with it, with the ability to go back to my rooted rom at any point easily
