Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Hey guys. I've never rooted the phone or anything so I didn't really think about saving it before the upgrade. I was in a meeting at work sitting on a conference call when the prompt came up. Since I was bored I updated it immediately and started dinking around with it. I'll answer anything I can for you for a little bit while I'm still on. 3 home screens I can confirm :icon_eek:

If you want more screens on the Milestone all you have to go is menu > settings > sound & display and the very bottom is an option for screens. Do you have that?

Just looked. Option doesn't exist.

After looking at the schedule in the Verison memo, I can see why they had problems trying to resolve their issues. If they are sending out 10,000 updates tonight and then the next batch will go out at 11:59PM on 4/1. My math calculates that as a 48 hour period of time, not 24 hours.
:laugh: Hopefully the mistake was the date they wanted to release the next batch and not the actual amount of time listed.

@Garcia fan
Dose it have the droid versin of the nexus one home scerrn where it is red insted of a ranbow?
Is it faster then 2.0.1?
And thanks for the pix know I know it isn't a hoax

The most shocking thing about all these threads around various forums is how many people think there are only 30 days in this month.

AMEN!! Probably shouldn't be using a smartphone, when they don't know when April 1st is....especially when said smartphone has a calendar

So why does the update.zip need to be saved before updating? Does it delete the update.zip? When I got my Droid new with the 2.0.1 firmware the stock update.zip was still on the sdcard...

It wasn't on mine. So I'm going to assume part of the update process is rm /sdcard/update.zip.

;)

Garcia fan, I read that someone said they were having lag issues, what about you, is it running smoothly?

not noticing any lag.

BTW pinch to zoom in google earth rocks. You can do normal pinch to zoom, and you can also place a finger on a spot and rotate the other finger around it to rotate the globe.

I guess that makes sense. Most people would probably complain that the update took up a bunch of space on their sd card if it didn't delete it. I'm guessing mine was probably 2.0 and possibly updated in the store to 2.0.1 and they just didn't remove the update they used.
