I'm amused that's what has you most excited - you could have installed it on a non rooted phone as an APK for a while now.

I was amazed for a bit and then it wore off and I saw how much memory it takes up - a HUGE amount.

Garcia fan, I read that someone said they were having lag issues, what about you, is it running smoothly?

not noticing any lag.

BTW pinch to zoom in google earth rocks. You can do normal pinch to zoom, and you can also place a finger on a spot and rotate the other finger around it to rotate the globe.

Not running 2.1 but as Milestone has this on 2.0.1 I have plated with it a bit and I have to say when using maps (basically G/Earth with layers) it is great fun. Especially street view now that is awesome.
