Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

dammit, just finished watching 'Hart's War', hoping I could come back here and see a DL link....oh well. I'm too stubborn to quit just yet, still got a couple more hours in me...

Question:

Is there any way to monitor uploads to the popular sharing sites (mediafire, rapidshare, etc)? My googling has turned up nothing in this arena. Would be nice if I could set it so that any 'update.zip' that gets uploaded, is immediately emailed to me as an alert.

From what I am hearing about the news on the different sites from people who have gotten the update is that this update doesn't have the "Restart & Install" screen this time, it just restarts for you. This basically disables you from pulling the update.zip from your SD card and may be why there isn't one on the internet.

as far as i remember w/ my boss' droid he didnt have a SD card.. supposedly... so it might be in /tmp space... and of course in linux.. anything in swap/tmp gets erased on reboot... LINDA file mgr to the rescue??

80 pages....still no link,,,,,,,,, I am at work taking care of patient and anxiously waiting for updates.......good luck droidholic

Need some help.

I need to know that those instructions from Android Forums actually DO work. I've got a guy right now with the option to update.

They *should* work. At the very least, after downloading the update, you can always yank the battery before rebooting and pop the microSD card out and copy it from an external reader... (if available)

Don't do that , it may be in /cache and then you need to do do an ADB pull . Ahh , who am I kidding , nobody who will get this update will know how to save it .

I would doubt they'd put it in /cache. It's a good possibility it won't be stored on the SD, though. Especially if it's only 15MB.

okokok I have a few pix. I wish i knew what else to take pix of or was even able to post video.. but oh well.
So yeah, sorry it took so long, i was reading and responding post by post, so i never read the next one before responding tot he NEXT, so sorry again.
But here are some fast/crappy shots of what i believe night be a small bit of proof. let me know what else you would wanna see...

PS, in the last pic of the gallery, under the album named 'downloads' you can see a pic of my walking my dog. hehe

Thank you for these, I'm not upset about the update.zip at all, atleast I know it's coming, and not a hoax.

Instructions to grab the file are not correct. That's 2 people now reporting that they are not seeing the second "Restart and Install" screen and instead going straight to boot.

By the way, when it reboots to install the update, pull the battery.

Take out the micro sd and pull the update.zip from it.
