Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Still waiting to hear if this DL link is legit...........................................................................................................................................................................

I'm personally going to hold off on the update until DroidMod can implement it into a new custom ROM.

I enjoy having my 5 screen, WiFi tethering and having it overclocked.

Need someone that knows how to hex edit the su binary in like with the original root, since the 2.0.1 recovery has the same exploit, you can use a hex edited update.zip like we did for 2.0.1 that has both the update and su, so you get 2.1, and root, then just got to reflash sprecovery and rename the recovery-from-boot.p file again and good to go.

The hole in 2.0.1 and 2.0 has been closed in 2.1.

Thanks Gator

**** guess i need to go get me a Droid tomorrow now lol
Yes, you probably should.

does it work well with helix?
I had the old HelixLauncher from the market that is shown when you have 2.0.1 installed. I did not upgrade. It seemed to work perfectly fine (even showed the live wallpaper option). I have since uninstalled it to check homescreens. I will install the new one from the market and report.

Gator, how's the speed of the Droid with 2.1

I heard some people said it feels slower than it did with stock 2.0.1

Care to share your thoughts on it?
In the few minutes I've spent with it, it feels faster. That could also be a factor simply from restarting and dumping the stack. The stock launcher is appreciably more smooth (but less slick, and less homescreens) than Helix. I suspect I will go back to helix for the number of homescreens alone.

Can you Confirm its Legit Adrynalyne?

I'm still looking. So far it looks like it.
