Android is losing

No. It was worded exactly correct. It's as ugly as racism. It's prejudicial and offensive.

I have to strongly disagree with you, that kind of comment is like adding gasoline to the fire.

Nobody is getting lynched on this thread for liking apple. People are getting "ridiculed", "made fun of", "teased". You should really consider the implications of making a bold statement like that.

I think that you should go read the whole post. And then read jkhonea's comment about it. Then read it a couple of more times.

I just re-read it and read jkhonea's response and I didn't witness any lynching.

There's a major difference between racism and people making fun of you or being harsh on a tech forum because you like Apples products. I'm not sure why you are trying to continue defending your post. Do you really think its an accurate comparison? Honestly? I understand that you were trying to make a point... and I personally am not offended, but I can acknowledge why someone else would get offended and that you could have reworded that post, that's all I'm saying.

Well in any respect I will most likely be getting an iPod touch soon just because of the fact I have around 13 gb of music on my Droid and if there is one thing you can say, its that ipods are pretty good music players lol

+1 i still have a 2 gb nano (second gen..... got like a week before third gen came out) that i use. Ive had ipod classics that have broke but my nano is still alive and kicking (with a better battery life than any of the new ones). Its been dropped countless times and other than it being really scratched up theres absolutely nothing wrong it it except one thing. Might have to retire it soon, the center button is starting to not always work :(

I have an iPod classic that stays hooked in the glove box of my truck and I play it all the time. I've heard the newer ones aren't as good. I'm still considering a newer to try so I can get my entire library back on it again. Haven't completely decided. It's farther back in consideration than a Mac Air. :D

Wow I'm having a difficult time keeping up with reading all the construcive critisism.

One thing I would love to see take off on android is opkg, it would probably keep me with android for awhile...

Why would you want to? From the 2 sec google search i did to find out what the dpkg is it seems to just basically be the same as the apk's we already have for our droids just with more steps to install. It seems to be (correct me if im wrong) pretty much the same set up that linux distro's use with repositories.

Apk's are limited, someone can use dpkg to update a rom without downloading the whole rom, or ever having to flash it.
Someone with a stock rom could just download the notifacation bar widget instead of pulling it from cm's repo then compiling it.

It would allow preconfigureing of packages and ability to customize anything with little or no user input.

All of that sounds great... everything you just said are my main goals for my project;
WugPort - Universal Theme Porter

I want to simplify the customizing process. That sounds alot easier.

All I've got to say is WOW!!! This has turned into an amazing thread. As i was reading there was so many things that kept popping into my head that i would have like to responded to but i wanted to read the whole thread first .. now ive gotten side tracked and cant remember all the things i wanted to say.
I do not claim to be a major techie kind of person. I dont know crap about technology.. well sorta... its mostly been a trial and error type of thing. But I would just like to give my whole 2 cents worth about this iphone vs. android conversation.
My point of view is I have an ipod touch.. 4 ipods in total dating from the little square ipod nano to the classic 80gb and 2 ipod touches. the iphone to me is just an ipod touch that you can make calls with... no big deal to me. Ive never really messed around with the iphone to see exactly how it can be customized... maybe that will happen in the future.. who know?
I love my d2g ... i got it for many personal reasons.. one being the global part. I never know when im going to want to pack a back pack and leave for mexico for a week or a couple months .. and i need some way to stay in touch with my daughter and my parents if that happens. Sure i could lug around my laptop .. which i usually keep with me when i travel .. but having my phone is a lot easier way to keep my lines of communication open when im not easily reached.
Also i like the ability to have a micro sd card... and i dont think iphones are able to use them .. correct me if im wrong. I have several sd cards as im sure most everyone else does .. all ranging from the 2gb to the 32gb which i now have in my phone ..but al of them have different stuff on them and being able to replace a card on the spot for some particular reason is quite nice.
pc vs. mac? Ive always used a pc .. ive played around with the mac books and my aunts imac .. and i would love to get some sort of mac to mess around with but i just cant get myself to spend the amount of money that they are sold for... thats my one draw back on the macs.
I love the fact that i can wifi tether my droid to my ipod in the car and use pandora off my ipod which is docked in my car through my stereo system.
With just the little things ive done and noticed with my ipod and my droid .. the systems seem to be very compatible.
I like itunes .. had problems with it when i first started using it but i have really grown to like it .. just like my droid .. somethings that really felt difficult at first to grasp have become very simple for me now. Sure ive wiped my whole library .. several times .. but that was user error and ive never had a problem with itunes doing that on its own. And even when i have wiped my library its been very simple to recover .. easy as 1 2 3 .. it just might take a while because my music library right now sits at 117gb of music.
As for Wugfresh and his "i" cult .. lol.. i love it. I know exactly what you mean .. a lot of consumers now adays are getting the iphone bcause that is the "in" thing to do. And i will simply not conform to the "in" thing.
One reason i went with the android is bcause i have a couple friends that have droid phones .. one being the droid1 and another has the X... and ive played around with their phones and I immediately fell in love with them.. the droid just feels really comfortable to me and the technological knowledge ive gained in the time that ive owned my droid is phenominal.
What works for me might not work for someone else.. who cares! If we all conformed to the same thing and we were all alike .. this would be one boring world.
As for now .. i love my d2g ... i love my ipod .. i love my laptop and would love to get a mac.. but cant reason with spending the rediculous prices.. although im sure theyre worth their price to some extent.
Dangit .. now i dont remember wehre i was going with this or if i even had a point to begin with. Damn you xanax.. just when i get my thoughts together .. oh look .. a shiney ..
Ok .. ill shut up now .. just wanted to voice my opinion .. and even though im sure it didnt make sense to anyone else .. it made perfect sense with the conversation i was having with the voices in my head :)

Yeah and unfortunitly if we had dpkg or opkg we could simply do it all from the device... but I guess only few see the real advantages of a 2nd package manager.

I totally understand. I have been working very hard on this project and I have been wondering if it could be done an alternate way. That is a MAJOR benefit. But I will work within the limitations of android and do what I can. I really hope that tech is implemented on android in the future. Will send google a memo... lol. I think they hate me though, no CR-48 love for me. :(

Jay freeman the guy that ported dpkg to the iphone would be someone to talk to... on their website for telesphario they say they have intentions to port telesphario "to other linuxy devices like android" which is the first step to dpkg... I think
