Android is losing

Each has its place int he world. My wife has her iPhone 4 now and I still use my Incredible every day. I had considered going to the iPhone 5 but am leaning towards the Incredible 2 because I prefer keeping up with as many forms of technology as possible.

Both still have their pluses and minuses and the Android system is still going through it's teething pains. But I have seen huge progress over a short period of time. At this point, I would recommend they slow down on big developments and work more on refining. I think the base program is about there.

Honestly, I HOPE Android keeps growing and improving. It needs to for the balance in the smartphone world. They are the driving competitor to Apple right now and both will continue to improve as long as the other is around.

Yeah Exactly, android is adding too much stuff they need to refine & improve...

But anyway I'm buying the ipad 2 and ill see if I want an iphone after that....

It may be true but I refuse to acknowledge it! LOL.

I started with an iPhone, bought the SDK and all that, but now I have switched and invested all this time learning android, on top of all that, I can't get over my core childish Apple hating, it just runs to deep... I like making fun of mac fanboys, I can't go back now! I refuse to be a hippocrate... I can't join the "i" cult, I will just focus my energy on making android cooler.. lol

I would be surprised if you don't like it. I have the iPad and use it all the time. It tethers off my Inc when we're out and does a great job of it. I have actually found more uses for it than I ever thought I would. Despite popular belief, Apple and Android can live together quite well. As it is, I have a perfect sync relationship between my Windows 7 desktop, Windows 7 on one half of my MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard on the other side of my Mac hard drive, the iPad, my wife's iPhone, the Droid Incredible. Everything syncs perfectly between all of them. It really is cool.

OK, now that I've gotten used to your sense of humor, we're going to get along really well. :rofl2:

Jkhonea I would choose the iPhone5 over the Incredible 2 in a heartbeat. I would choose the iPhone over a lot of the upcoming devices for that matter.

I think the only really worthy Android devices this year are the Samsung Galaxy SII and the LG Optimus 3D.

I can't say how happy I am to see how this thread has turned out. Wug, the info about building the HTML5 shell around Flash is extremely cool. Never thought about it, but your descriptions are dead on. As far as Flash games within an HTML5 shell, it almost sounds like what you are describing would be an emulation, kinda like Fusion and Parallels used on a Mac to run Windows programs. Basically, a translator setup to interpret commands through HTML5 to Flash and back again. Is that correct?

Again, y'all are to be commended. This has been the best and most successful Apple/Android thread I have honestly ever seen on here and y'all are to be commended. I am getting so much out of this, as I think everyone else is. THIS is the kind of knowledge sharing I really enjoy seeing coming from an informative conversation like this.

Thank y'all so much again.

You should link this thread in the "code of conduct" post as the perfect example of how a potentially rough thread was handled maturely. ;)

Yeah, I'm still waiting to see how it plays out. I really want to try keeping a hand in Droid and will wait to see how everything plays out this year, I believe. Going to be an interesting decision. Another option will be to sell Mary's iPhone when the new one hits Verizon and move her up to the iPhone 5.

At least Android's development has forced Steve Jobs and the Apple engineers to step up. Do you honestly think that they would have allowed even the rudimentary multitasking allowed in the latest versions of iOs if Android hadn't gotten so big? Having viable competitors on all fronts makes for great competition all around. I do think and still think Apple's products are quality. I ridiculed the iPhone when it first came out, but they've really stepped up and now it is generally held to be the standard against which everything else is measured.

Out of the box Android devices are more customizeable, and more open to all sorts of things, yet out of the box iPhones are a lot more stable, smoother UI, easier for a novice to pick up and use, etc...

Its gotten to the point to where the only real difference is the logo on the back, and possibly the internal hardware.

As for openness, well probably the most geek-friendly device is a huge box with a bunch of cards and drives, but who wants to lug that around?

I'll probably try a WP7 next. It helps that I use a lot of Windows Live services already, namely Hotmail, but as I mentioned before, I really enjoyed the few weeks I had the Samsung Focus. Of course, that's assuming I'll ever be able to commit to a contract again... I'm currently month to month with Verizon, and it's nice to have that freedom.

In my opinion people are free to hate on apple or whatever, but if you actually understand technology, you HAVE to acknowledged that most of the major players are doing a lot of things right. There are always benefits and drawbacks when chosing between competitors in the computer/mobile technology industry. If you are anti-apple like myself... you have to acknowledge that iOS is pretty slick and their hardware is rather innovative... and if you are an apple fanboy, you have to acknowledge the 'trendy' factor and apples over the top marketing strategies with their "i" everything. But in a discussion, its better to only joke about these things and compare and contrasts the actual technology involved... the rest is just silly.

Absolutely and completely right. If you're a true technology fan, you appreciate ALL technology for what it brings to the table, not just bits and pieces.

Don't want to deter this conversation to much... but if you care about your security, I would strongly advise against this decision. Windows is just to easy to hack, and your mobile device contains (and is used to transmit) the most confidential information you have. It will be extremely easy to redesign the viruses and malware already in circulation to also exploit Microsofts mobile platform. Hackers have a nice head start. Additionally, I really don't see any advantage to those windows phones besides better in built exchange support. Very few apps, limited customization, and just plain-old vulnerability. Don't get me wrong, I love Windows but I will NEVER trust Microsoft enough to run their insecure os as my mobile platform.
...just my opinion...

No that's definitely a good point... I never thought about the "portability" of malware between desktop Windows and WP7.

There is no root/not root. Its just fake administrative privileges, fake authentication with UAC, and fake password protection os lock (only public key.... no private key). You can be an admin whenever you want, you can go around UAC, you can change the password... Not that I know how to do any of these things ;).
