Android is losing

Maybe if a handful of them go up the river for several years it might make a admirable dent in at least some of it.

Ok, perhaps if I revamp this to say maybe if a handful of them get the living hell beat out of them by a group of pissed off subscribers...

Lmfao, I will sign that bill.

@ilikemymoneygreen
I actually picture it done directly through the browser, no extra app. Yes HTML5 does everything flash does and more efficiently. You can build full web applications and games... heck.. you could build an entire os.

I keep bringing it up, because people kept talking about losing their media.. and that has everything to do with DRM, I was trying to explain that you can easily strip DRM from any media, you can rip any songs off of any ipod, and there are decent alternatives if you want to forego messing with itunes all together. I personally hate iTunes because it runs four background processes at all times on Windows, one of which is bonjure.exe and for a company who is all about security you would think they would avoid using a service that can be exploited with some clever hackary. Also, I like pitching MediaMonkey because it syncs playlists on android better than any silly app on the market... just thought people should know. I will stop mentioning it. Lol.

We need facebook to do their games in html 5. Zynga or whatever needs on that wagon. Itl happen sooner or later why not now?

Because android essentially ruined Jobs plan to kill flash. If everyone hopped on board it would have happened. But I don't blame Google... it was a great business move... "hey look, we support flash!". Long live flash.. lol.

Come to think of it.... what I said about html5 shell around flash, has obviously already been done. How do you think Apples youtube app works?

That is a good point. That is probably how that works. :)

DFS, Lets not get this thread locked. :frown: Filter the Language a tad.... Fam Freindly. :) Wugfresh is right about the cat and mouse game til the end too, haha, until we are all controlled by robots that is. Then were done for.:icon_eek:

You're kidding me, right? What did I say? I hear worse language from 10 year olds.

Guess I have to revamp again...

"Maybe if a handful of them get the demonic ways physically removed from their being by a gathering of rather irritated subscribers."

Better?

Yup. Look what I found:
http://www.youtube.com/html5

Doesn't seem to be a "shell" necessarily... but they obviously didn't rebuild the whole site. They found a way to take the video content and load it into html5. I am wondering why this hasn't been implemented on all flash content on android... I mean... who owns youtube? Lol. And why isn't this done on iOS? What is Jobs doing?

No, im sorry i meant the other comment. lol, that one was perfect the way it was IMO. I guess a mod could have a problem with it but i dont think so. I love your reword to "get the demonic ways removed" haha, heck would have been easier.

android was webm enabled i believe in gingerbread. So it already has the feature (At least for youtube). Ios had it first though. It would be awesome to get this on all flash content.

Further investigation pending.... I'm about to make the most downloaded app for iOS ever lol. I think I still have my SDK license! If I can make it I will build it for android too. There has to be a reason why its not as easy as I think....

Maybe apple just won't approve it..? I can't be the first person to think of this.... right?

Yea, but ya know some things just cannot be expressed in the necessary fashion without using words that impart the emotion of the author. For instance, sex scenes in most movies are just stuck in there for whatever idiotic reason and lend nothing to the movie, but a few properly placed vulgarities can make all the difference in whether or not a particular scene comes off with any real legitimacy.

A couple apps in ios handle flash movies. none i know of handle games though... depressing. If you created it im sure it would be approved, your idea is html 5. Perfectly within policy.

Ahhh... I think that's the difference, loading video content is easy because there is no scripting language associated with it, but a game or web app built in flash would probably have to be entirely rebuilt in html5, because all the functionality is coded in flash.

Maybe with some sophisticated parsers you could autogenerate the html5 version.... still thinking...

I am going to have to bring this up to someone who knows way more than me. I have a friend who builds web applications in both flash and html5... he can tell me if I am crazy or not.

Very true. Im not sure if i gather the same essence on the rewrite though. I cant read it with a strait face. Its comical.

Well i see what your saying... Maybe? I am pretty sure skyfire, the app on iOS uses a server to run the flash video then it is sent to the device. your right, Videos wouldn't necessary be written in flash only using flash to play them.... Video codecs probably arn't flash specific. a conversion tool would be more intensive than flash istelf though. If thats what your thinking. would it be possible to steal the video from flash and just put it in html 5? Im not really sure how that all works.

My idea isn't looking to good.. :(
You can't pull source script from an embedded flash app/game so there would be no way to parse it. The best I could do would be to make a developer tool to help people convert their flash apps/games into html5. And that sounds like a *bleep*. I have far too many projects to take that on... sounds like something better suited for someone who does this for a living.. oh well. Sorry guys.

That's kinda what I was saying...well....kinda... really what I was explaining was that pulling video content from an embedded flash video and loading it into html5 is easy, in fact html5 is already set up to do that (from what I have gathered so far...), but a flash app/game is composed of animated images + ActionScript (a programming language built by Macromedia and now owned by Adobe; its used to code all the functionality and interactive features in those flash apps/games). The ActionScript associated with a given flash app/game is compiled when the final content is exported as a swf file, but that script is not accessible on the front end, so there would be no way to autogenerate it into html5 script via parsers.... That's what I was saying...or was trying to say.
