Any talk about a Droid 5 coming out?

my battery's been pretty good. try cleaning up the crap and also removing some apps from startup..

i really like my d4. no complaints at all. it just took a little work to get it setup right. i also use screen brightness controls so that the screen isnt always at max brightness when it doesnt need to be. bluetooth and wifi is pretty much always on.

Battery life used to be very good when the phone was on ICS but not as much with JB. I use the eclipse rom so I don't have all the bloat the phone came with. I always have Bluetooth on since my car has it, gps is on as well I'm mostly just on 4g. I do like my games songpop and words with friends but its not like i use them all day. Other then the battery I love this phone

Well, he was just suggesting what to get if I don't end up with the D5. I was discussing the D5 and the alternative for it if the hardware for D5 will be inferior just like when we got our D4. As you probably know, there isn't much to talk about, we might as well close the thread for the mean time until new rumors or a statement from M is announced. Also, your last 2-3 posts are about D4, just saying.

Everyone is saying on d5 pictures is based on razr m or razr hd built. To me it look like prototype from photon q and slap edge to edge on the body

well ur on 4g and gps.. yeah that's going to be a drainer. 2-4 hrs tops i figure on a full charge. but at least in ur car u can have it charging a bit while on the move. i have a car dock setup and also got one of those anker lipstick portable batteries for when im on foot. works pretty nice. i tend not to use 4g except when i have no choice. i work in IT so everywhere i go i pretty much get wifi access. i also turn off gps when im not using it.

ive done a couple things.. uninstalled google maps and replaced with waze. uses less memory and doesnt startup with the fone. also removed playstore from startup. dont need that until u need it. quite a few other apps are restricted. basically anything that i dont use has been turned off or blocked until i manually access it. a memory manager from lbe security, one click cleans up my ram everytime usage goes over 80% taking it back down to 50% also saves the battery to my understanding.

i also keep facebook shutdown and manually launch it to check updates or when i feel like fb-ing. i use an old version since i found newer versions used more memory. it gives me all the features i need so no need for the latest update for me.

when i installed go launcher and got it configured the way i wanted, i also removed the stock homescreen from startup. no sense having both apps running if im only using one.. stuff like that.

He has apoint the faster internet connection the less drain your phone have to have. When it come to battery life. And, that why verizon is pushing for 4g lte like madman in past year or two.

What app do you use to restrict apps from starting at start up?

If you can, can you link us to the Management apps you use?

@jmagi

i use lbe security. it has all those features including app permissions controls, firewall and antivirus. the one click widget is activated in settings and a shortcut added to the homescreen.

be careful tho, if ur on jellybean it causes the fone to bootloop. but there's a version that works with jb. cant remember where i got it tho. might have to do some digging.

I'm the same way pretty much except I leave my 4g off quite a bit when I don't have WiFi. I turn it on to check things when I want but usually have it off if I am not using the phone. That makes a HUGE difference in battery life. I always use WiFi at home and at most of my friends houses.

Thanks for all the good information. I just bet the D5 is coming out soon as my D4 just took a dump. It started running really slow and then just freezes up. took battery out reboot a couple of times - I'm ready for the D5.

yeah sounds like u need more memory. thats why i use oneclick ram cleanup regularly. pretty much after i know ive run a few apps and as soon as the system starts to slow down. but with more memory i can do more and not worry about that. it would probably still drain the battery faster tho so im glad ive gotten this embedded into how i use my d4.

that one downside of apps staying open in the background and draining the memory and battery is a real downside to android as it's been structured. that's why i also prefer apps with an 'exit' button. i dont want stuff running when im not using them.

Do you have to be rooted to use that one click ram cleanup?

it better be. only chumps think virtual keyboards are the way of the future. at the very least they have to make a seperate compartment from the screen for typing. virtual keyboards are for noobs who still use a phone like a miitoo.
