Are we just waiting on Moto for GB?

I'm freakin out, man!
You ARE freaking out....man!

Seriously though, chill, they take time to do all the voodoo that they feel they need to in order to ensure it works on our phones. It'll happen, Gingerbread at least, dunno about anything past that (without it just being custom roms)

Well apparently we can't do any custom ROMs based off unreleased Android versions because of the lockdown on the new Moto devices. So basically we're just stuck with what we got (or a custom version of it).

Did you really expect to get Gingerbread so soon? Guess you haven't been around this community for long :P

I registered the month after you, buddy :)

It didn't take em this long to get Froyo out. And now Honeycomb's out and they're talking about Ice Cream Sandwich. If it takes em this long to release an OS, they'll probably just skip an OS and leave us hanging or just stop updating altogether!

The Droid 2 came with Froyo, and the X came with a buggy version that might possibly be better by now. The Droid 1 is a different story, b/c at the time they had less devices and it was running AOSP, not blur. It itself has yet to be upgraded to gingerbread, if it ever will.

Also, look at the community roms based on gingerbread there are just a handfull that are even close to stable enoughm let alone good enough to be ready for prime time in front of millions of people.

You learn to deal with these things over time. It's how things are.

Also, gingerbread didn't had anything major, just some API's for games and a cool screen off animation. All the looks will probably be replaced with blur.

I just don't see the rush for wanting a buggy version of an OS, let alone one FULL of blur :/

Also, honeycomb is not out. Only gingerbread source is out and it has only been out for a short amount of time.

I'm thinking they might not release for the Droid 1, since, according to their website, the Milestone is staying on 2.1, and we already have 2.2.

Yeah I was referring to droid with froyo.I just want gingerbread already!

I think youre right. Can't a ROMer just make GB for the droid from AOSP?

It's not as easy as "just" doing it. There are two (unstable) AOSP builds out, but they're lacking things like being able to use 3G on the stock browser, and the SD card not mounting. I haven't heard any more updates from either developer yet.

Although it is more possible for the og droid than it is for this generation. Og could possibly see custom roms built off of new android versions seemingly indefinately, as long as there is still developer support.

tappin and a talkin

So it doesnt just come out compatible with any (most) non-locked devices? They actually still have to do stuff with it? Well Im sure thats still a lot easier than Blurcrapping it!
