Are we just waiting on Moto for GB?

Are we just waiting on Moto to create some painfully annoying gingerBlur, or does google still have some more AOSP files to release?

Cause if its all on Moto now, I think im gonna bomb their inbox with emails asking why we have no GB. This is ridiculous, they've had long enough!

It is posts like this that drive me nuts, there is so much more going on in this world that you are not aware of, or care to know.
So here, before you add more to this thread, read up on what is actually going on so you can speak intelligently (Unless your purpose was to troll, in which case, good job): Software development process - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You are so good at googling, I envy your talent.

But in all seriousness, I am familiar with the process of software development. Also, I understand that when you are given a complete OS, and you just need to "make it work", 99% of the work is done. A couple dozen software engineers tackling the lose ends is not a difficult task. Bluring it up...well now that may be a different story. Cause everyone knows that no matter what, Blur is just flat out crappy.

Based on the history, things are not looking too positive. And youre going to tell me that you somehow can justify taking months to tweak an already complete OS? Why don't you head on over to Korea, I hear Samsung is hiring.

the time taken probably accounts for design and test with mule phones. but concerning the enhancements made to it by moto i really only like the visual touches/dock, maybe some widgets. what i dont like is its usage of hardware to the point that it nukes batteries.
maybe they equate this phone to an old era muscle car where by the time youve reached the end of the driveway ... the dam thing has already drank a gallon of gas to idle & move 20 ft ...

Yeah, what theyre doing with blur should be criminal. Honestly, before rooting, I didn't feel like my D2 was any faster than my D1, despite having more memory and twice the processing power. I'm now starting to notice apps that are like trojan horses, you close them and they come back instantly. You can do it a hundred times and they'll still come back to steal your memory. On some, even closing the running process for them doesn't do the trick. There's no need for these apps to be open 24/7...it makes me so mad. And on top of that, blur slowing up the device itself is horrible. Manufacturers seriously need to stop this crap.

Not to be completely off topic, but I would just like to inform you that I hate you on principle for being a VTech fan.

Go ramblin wreck.

Anyways, what I'm getting from this topic is that Gingerbread has barely been released on any phones at all, and probably won't be easily available on the Droid 2(which everyone should get a free update to global from) for a few more weeks/months.

Jealousy is a stinky cologne :P

Only time will tell whats going to happen with GB. However you just made me think...what if moto decides to only make GB for the D2G and not D2? I'd be furious!!!

I'm a ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer...

Good to see another Techie.

Quick question, when moto does release gingerbread how will our phones receive the update? Will it be just be automatically downloaded to our phones when they connect to the internet, or would we have to download the update and install it ourselves?
Thanks

It would be done just like any other. You'd wake up one day and have a notification of a new ota update. More likely you'll hear about it being rolled out here before that so it won't be a huge surprise.

Besides the fact Motorola has promised a better bootloader policy in the future, nope.

yeah i didnt like hearing about that either ... perhaps ill rom if it came to that

Why didn't you like it? It's good news if anything. Motorola has said they are trying to make their devices more developer friendly while still protecting their user's interests. Hopefully they rip efuse out.

It's been posted by Motorola that "The views of their customers and consumers will not change their views on their Bootloader policy, and they will stand behind it because they don't "care".

Which is why, I will be personally getting the Thunderbolt and trashing my X.

Can't support a company like this, if they don't care about our wants/opinions in a product that we buy to SUPPORT them, then why should they even want to hear what we think?
