Battery drains fast!

Battery life seems to vary based on signal. In my apartment where I seem to get decent cell reception I can let it sit on standby and the battery life seems ok(stand by for like 3-4 hours and batt went from 70% to 65%. This morning back to work, I am getting no signal in my cube(I used to get some on OG) and I think thats killing the battery. Went into work fully charged on the extended batt and by 11am I am at 65%, no call, and running on setcpu's screen-off profile...

I flashed the "leaked" radio and gave that a go. It definitely improved my reception as literally I went from 0 bar to 3 bar in the same spot where I sit...The phone plugged in for a bit and got to 70% charge when I went to lunch. The I left it unplugged for the rest of the day, and I am on wifi mostly. To this point, ~14+ hours later on battery alone and I am still sitting at 29%....where as I drained 35% when I had no signal at work in 3 hours...

Well I have consitantly received 8 to 10 hours since I got this phone. I decided to try desperate measures and changed two things at once. Well let me tell you I am a happy camper. I installed the free version of juice defender and I bought the app "setCPU". I have doubled my battery life. I will be doing some tests shortly to determine which app is contributing the most.

Assuming you rooted your phone since you are using setcpu, are you using stock from? How did the rooting go? Was it easy enough? Rooted phone before once but not galaxy nexus. Direct me to something that did work for you.

Sorry this might be a stupid question but what is the leaked radio?

Mine never says keep awake. Is yours rooted or do you have a task killer?

I never keep any of my settings turned off either. Location, data, all that stuff is on and I'm getting about 12-13 hours out of it

I am running the default 350min 1200 Max "Interactive". When Charging I do not limit it but when on battery & screen off I set the Max to 350 power saver.

I really beleive Juice defender is contributing more to my battery savings...

I am stock rooted which you need to be for setCPU. Rooting was pretty easy. I used the instructions used on Droid-Life but others have had success with instructions on this forum

Here is the link to the rooting procedure I used.

Unlocking Bootloader here:

Rooting Here:
How to: Root the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE, Flash a Custom Recovery and Make a Backup [Verizon] – Droid Life

I just saw this today but have not personally tried it.

I haven't been on this forum lately :). Thanks Jeff, much appreciated. YEah, I want to do the same. I just want to root it and keep the stock ROM for now since I'm happy with it at least for now, will see in near future if I decide to flash custom rom. I will certainly do backups first before I go further. I was on XDA developers for hours yesterday reading through the entire post, messages, replies, issues, resolutions etc.. all related to rooting. I'm a lead IT consultant myself. What do you think of this? I'm sure you might have already seen it though. Let me know what you think. Very interesting stuff and the guy really spent lots of time I guess. Thanks again.
