Battery life on CM7. Let's hear it...

Nightly 33 is eating my battery compared to 31. I haven't used my phone that much today at all since I have been working on my parent's Duramax (power steering pulley fell off on the freeway), and moving stuff.

I might go back to 31... I also have had a few random hot reboots today.

Huh, im having the exact opposite results. im on nightly 34 and battery life is phenomenal 6h 21min on battery, at 70% and no reboots.dancedroiddancedroid I also had reboots on 33, but my battery life completely sucked. if you look back a page or 2 you can see my picture. So i recommend you go to 34 for good battery life and no reboots.

the change log seems so minor between 33 and 34...
I wonder what the real explanation behind the battery life issue is...

Found this over on the official Cyanogen mod forums...worth a shot, I'm trying it this afternoon.
HOW TO FIX BATTERY STATS!!!

I never believed that cm4dx ate up more battery power than froyo or gingerbread. I noticed something odd when i went to clear battery stats while in recovery, it wasnt wiping them. So i decided to look for an app that would do it properly, the app is called battery calibration. what until your phone is 100% charged and then open up the app and hit calibrate battery.

It's a good app to have. I think I use it too much sometimes! Charge to 100, run the app. Unplug. Run it down to 0 without charging. Then charge to 100 without a break.
Thats it :)

how does your run now? guestimatie with moderate use.

Battery life is my only issue with cm. I'm hoping it gets better with time. It's always a good idea to calibrate the battery tho. It can't hurt.

link to that conversation please? That's an interesting comment. I always recalibrate my battery states via recovery. Now I wonder if it's working or not.

btw, still get very good battery life on Nightly #31, so I really can't complain. Just interesting.

Wonder why this app would erase the .bin file, but recovery wouldn't erase it?

That was the only mention of it when I found it, someone had suggested giving it a try.

I do battery calibration every time I switch ROMs, and CM7 battery life on my phone still wasn't very good. Right now, I've been on battery for 7 hours and I'm at 70% on aosp Liberty. On CM7 I'd be lucky to be at 60%. Phone idle and cell standby are both at about 10%, and display is at 35%. On CM7, phone idle would always be close to what my display was at, no matter what I was doing. Even with using all the battery tricks, it's tough to get a phone to stop doing what it does when it's not doing anything.

Nightly #37. Battery life sucks. Yes i realize i have no service but liberty was at 70%+ with the same amount of time on it, and with no service.

Full charge at 9am this morning, by 4pm I was at 65% with moderate use; mostly Seesmic, a few emails, texts, and a phone call. Normally with that type of usage on Liberty I would be at about 80%, maybe 75% with heavy use.

I hope sooner rather than later CM can rival that type of battery use. This ROM beats Liberty hands down but the battery life still blows.

just checked my son's phone. It was dying and he said "that's OK, I've gotten almost a day and a half..."

WHAT?!!
sure enough, I looked and he's used almost 2 hours of display time on, but here's the screenshots I took:

I checked, he's on Nightly #21, no scripts or imoseyon magic.
