Battery life on CM7. Let's hear it...

Well yeah. Only 2 hours of display will make my battery last a while too (maybe a day) Even so, it's pretty darn good!

yeah, and part of those two hours he was text-bombing me, so I'm glad to see his phone die for the day :D

As absolutely CRAPTASTIC as the battery life has been on CM7, I just can't bring myself to switch ROMs yet; everything else is just too good! Is there any relief in sight to get better life out of the battery?

This is my feeling exactly. It's just too good to switch. I pray that the battery issue will be fixed sometime soon

You guys can try sbfing back to froyo and then try and flashing cm back I've heard for some people it increases battery life.

I'm trying juice defender, battery calibration, and standing on my head at midnight to try and find anything to increase the battery life on this ROM. I can't live forever with not being able to even get into the evening without having to charge it up but I'll hang for as long as I can.

Yeah, I did that and it wa great, my DX went from Friday night to Sunday night on a single charge (granted, with very minimal use). Then after taking it off the charger Monday morning it was down to around 70-ish% by lunch...The battery life seems very flaky.

can you flash a nandroid? or would that defeat the purpose? (if this is even possible, i know there are issues with backups from different versions of the dx bootstrapper)

i am considering anything at this point... while the nighlties have helped SIGNIFICANTLY over the original, its still not near stock GB or close to froyo in terms of battery life.

that being said, i like it too much to give it up!

I think you can restore a clockwork mod backup if it's through the CM version of clockwork mod...but yeah, it would probably defeat the purpose.

I just did a clean install of the latest nightly, and my battery life is much better and it just feels smoother.

Thanks for the Tip TreFiDDy!

I have only used Juice Defender for two days and have already seen a HUGE increase in battery. From being off the Charger at noon yesterday til 11:45 pm I had 63% left. Plus I calibrate after flashing every nightly with dalvik wipes between every other one.

BATTERY BATTERY BATTERY, I would give my right arm at this point to be able to get through an entire day and still have batter left!!!!!! I love CM7, but OMG I can't take this not being able to use my phone all day without having to charge it up in the afternoons to be able to get through the evening hours. I don't want to go back to Liberty, I truly don't, but the battery life was really epic.

Seriously if you're not like me (ocd) and you can live without your email going off the sec you get a new one, use Juice Defender!! The best thing I ever did on CM7. I just flashed back to a .596 based rom for a few day (Shiju rom) just to see if battery is REALLY that much better on GB. I don't remember it being that good but I could be wrong.

I have all my email coming into my gmail account so my notification goes off quite often. I do need to be notified of it because quite often time is of the essence to reply back, etc.

I ran Liquid roms when I had my first droid and then I ran Liberty when I got my DX. I was having issues with Liberty becoming flaky after a month of installing an update. Random reboots, freezes, FC's, etc. I would wipe, install, and all would be fine for a while then it would come back. the battery life was awesome though! I finally made the swtich to CM, having never run any of their roms before. Everything about it is just flat out awesome, no question about it..however the battery drain is literally unbelievable. I don't even use my phone constantly, but I use it enough to see it drain before my very eyes. Going out for the day with the family and expecting the phone to have battery left before dinner time is not an unreasonable request. I mean all these nightly updates are great, and I stay on top of them, but why in world is something not done to increase the battery life in these?

SOrry to vent, I love CM7 but it's just driving me nuts with my battery. :)

I did try juice defender but I didn't notice any difference, is there a big difference between the free and paid version?
