Battery life

Thanks Rock, that clarified quite a bit for me! I had no idea unique Bluetooth connection was an option. Also the wifi trigger, I'm guessing wifi has to be enabled all the time to be a trigger, but can you tell if the wifi connection drops (say, walking outside of a wifi range), do the cell networks then become enabled and grab a data signal? If so, your bluetooth car task might be redundant, if not, that might be a problem for me when at work where wifi doesn't reach.

Thanks again for your clarifications!

You can either leave WiFi on all the time, or just turn it on when you enter your WiFi arena, and the smart actions will kick in within seconds after logging on to the WiFi. Outside of WiFi/Bluetooth ranges, my "Out & About" configuration kicks in, and it does turn on Cellular networks to pick up 3G or 4G.

Usually when switching situations, the smart actions hand off the settings seamlessly - one deactivates as another activates. This occurs within seconds, and there is no real lag time for device use. Sometimes there are conflicts where two smart actions kick on at the same time. In that case, the latest one dominates if there are conflicting settings. You'll have to set some up and just watch what happens as they run, then try to tweak them to get the exact coverage and effect you seek

Also, what is up with the Android OS always being on top? If I recall correctly, when I was doing these battery "tests" with my DInc, DX1 and Charge, the "Android OS" was never on top. Maybe I'm losing my mind, but pretty sure it wasn't.

Still seeing good battery life but my Android OS is still the highest use by far.... further details just say CPU. Anyone else seeing this?

Just got my Motorola Razr....WOW it's fast as crap....I hope I am going too enjoy...Had a lot of problem with the Motorola Bionic....I hope I will have more fun with the Razor...:icon_ banana:

Just a fast update. It has now been almost 40 hours since the last charge. Yesterday was average phone use, couple of texts, and 45 minutes of constant live radar during a severe storm. Today was 75 minutes of phone calls, half an episode of South Park during a boring moment, and a couple of texts. The battery is down to 20%. I turned off the 4g after the last full charge and am sorry I left that out of my first post. BTW, there wasn't so much as a glitch in running the radar and South Park. No use of smart actions yet, will set that up this weekend. WiFi has been on. I'm pleased.

I am extremely happy how this battery life situation is turning out. After the battery has broken in and utilizationg the Smart Actions I have previously posted, I am currently at 72% with it being unplugged for 13 hours. Half the day the smart action was Wifi on/cell data disabled, the other half was cell data disabled when screen is off (I am allowing background sync for both Smart Action rules). When screen is on, I do have data set to 4G. 2 business emails being pushed, 2 gmail emails being pushed, automatic brightness, google location services on, gps off.

how do you turn off the 4g? thanks!

To those of you who turn off your cell data while on Wifi, how do your text messages go though? I set up the smart action that most of you have set up (Trigger - Wifi, Action - cell data off), tried to send a text message and it failed, saying that cellular connection was needed.

Mine are going through just fine, as are phone calls. I have read that MMS messages may get messed up, but no evidence of that and I haven't tried it.

Actually, to think of it, you're right. It was MMS.
Thanks for the tip! Now if only I can get rid of the Android OS taking up 30-50% of my battery life, even after phone/battery calibration. Probably factory reset is in order...

I wouldnt worry too much about the Android OS being at the top, mine is at 23% usage, next one down on the totum pole is Display at 22%. Battery life for me has been outstanding today, so i really cant complain.

I know if I am on my phone playing on the forums or Craigslist for quite some time it uses up some battery... I can be 20% from 8 to 1 but I just plug it up and let it charge .... I have plenty of chargers

My aos gets pretty high too. I can't for the life of me figure out what exactly is doing it. Its gotta be an issue with the software.

So on my circle battery app when I start my phone in the morning from a nightly charge (phone off), it shows 99 then goes to 98 rather quick. Is it possible to get a full 100% charge?
