Bionic build 5.9.901....Initial impressions......and what we know so far

now back on topic....my initial impression is that 5.9.901 'immediately' ran much more unstable than any build I've ran since 5.7.893.... what we know so far is that 5.9.901 was not ready for primetime and was only leaked to a few for guineapig purposes to work out the flaws that still arises for many/...:)

Kinda defensive are we??? Actually, I was recognizing your time, effort and knowledge that you willingly bring to the android community.

And yes, you CANNOT gauge the quality of a new build in a just a few minutes. But obviously, I'm not going to get through to you.

AND YOU STILL HAVE NOT ANSWERED MY QUESTION

I don't have anything I need to defend against you brah, you're the one that made the illinformed statement... this is obviously going nowhere since you cannot accept your misrepresentation, so I'll let you continue to share your knowledge and info with the community as will I...
and still have no clue as to what question you keep harping on??? too funny

Are you guys getting married...? Lol jk I'm no genius but it seems as if the update simply works for some bionics and not for others, just like everything else so far. I've had it installed for a few days now and have noticed an amazing difference in battery life and data connection. This is the longest I've had a data connection since I bought the bionic the week it came out. Some of the other updates did not work for me but did for others. I'm pretty happy with the 901 so far.

Now 'THAT' is a far more informed comment...that's what I'm talking about...

The same applies to everyone running 5.9.901....how can you be so sure in a few days of use that all is fixed??...for me symptoms appeared immediatley upon applying 5.9.901, whereas it was completely stable and consistent running 5.5.893, so a nobrainer as far I'm concerned....

In my case, 901 didn't improve my data connection, but neither did 893. It's been the same since I got the phone; hit and miss inside my house (none 1X, 3G or 4G) and 4G outside. I'm not upset that neither update helped me as it was that way with my OG Droid (although there is was 3G of course).

Camera is better and maybe battery life, but for that I'll have to see it over a period of several days.

I'm stock and unrooted, BTW.

Because several days is what you actually need to evaluate a new build.

battery life is the only thing that I cannot really state about 5.9.901.... but on 5.5.893 it's been superb... 4 hours and still inbetween 90%-100%, not the heaviest of use though but still not an issue where I'd have a need to stay on 5.9.901

some people may need several days to realize whether a certain build will hopefully and magically work out immediately noticed issues, but that's not me...lmao... I can figure things like that out pretty quickly...lol

....

IMO Verizon has yet to be the most reliable network

Droid Bionic / Tapatalk

Then why in the world are you paying for it?! You should switch to a less expensive provider if you're not getting the benefits of the VZW network. The network and customer service are the only reasons I've stuck around since inception. Just something to think about.

Now you're sounding like an arrogant know-it-all.

Moto- I got news for you. You can fire all of your development teams!!! Because with MBK's "expertise" (LOL) alone, you'll be able to roll out multiple updates in a single day. Since he can "immediately" determine whether a particular build is of good quality or not, irregardless of all other variables.

That's all I have to say about that.

I've stuck around for the very same reason as yourself bud.. I'm stating my personal issue with the Bionic / 4GLTE
Which hasn't been out long at all... From my first Droid OG upgrading all the way to the DX.. I never had an issue
But all this talk about the most reliable is far fetched when it comes to 4GLTE...
HELL FIOS isn't even available where I'm at yet and I'm in the city. 10 minutes from New York.. Sad

I didn't upgrade to the DX2 because I wanted all the new features which I'm only getting hardware wise
Front Facing Camera, Dual Core, 1GB Ram..
The 4GLTE is and has been a failure for me....

Actually 'you're' the one that made a condescending comment that anyone that didn't have success with 5.9.901 must be f'd in some way other than that the update isn't flawless... and to me your comment above just crossed the line brah, it is derogatory and uncalled for... You don't know me, you have no clue. You act as if you're more qualified than anyone else when it comes to the OTAs....

Sad you had to take the conversation in that direction...feel bad for you

Well "Brah"

I was expressing a personal opinion. Not fact. Maybe you have a little bit of a self esteem issue if it bothers you that much.

As far as Im concerned your opinion doesn't matter when it comes to the 901 build, because you didn't test it honestly. Your method of test driving a build is equivalent to saying a car drives like crap when all you have ever done is sit in the driver's seat for a few minutes without turning the car on.

As far as me being more qualified than you on this particular OTA, I probably am. I've spent enough time with it to see it's true quality. Unlike you I don't jump to conclusions.

I feel sad for you dude...you clearly cannot stand to be wrong. You're spending far too much effort to try and make derogatory comments aimed at me than allowing a true unbiased flow to what the title of this thread is.... it clearly is not a flawless OTA because it doesn't work right for many, even for a member that just posted that initially he thought it was working fine, only to find that the data drops are back and camera was acting up....

I have a clue for you.... software and firmware usually reveals it's flaws after time, not the other way around, ....it is merely code, if it has major issues initially it will not magically rewrite itself to adapt to particular situations...

Things like data drops and 3G/4G switching can be caused by more than one factor is all Im saying. If you install a build, and at that given moment the network is having an issue, you won't know if it's the network or the firmware/hardware without extended testing. That's all I'm saying.

My only point is that you are talking about something you don't have a lot of experience with, if you notice I didn't call out the other guy because he's been on the build for a few days. You commented on battery life when it's obvious you didn't even have the build on your phone long enough to actually run through a battery cycle.
