Bug Fixes and a Little More What Else Could You Ask For- Sapphire 0.6.2

Am I the only one getting an error when trying to enable wifi? Anything special I need to do?

I did a full wipe and load of 0.6.2 and also loaded jdlfg's 1100 kernel ...

Im getting the same thing. I went back to using P3 kernel and I got Wifi back.dancedroid

Cool, I'll flash a P3 really quick and post back if it works for me as well ...

And I'm going back to stock, will leave it at 800 for now and wait till a more stable solution is in place as sniffle mentioned

I've been using the P3 kernel 1.2 on saphhire 0.6 since the release. I was able to use up to 10 hours with average usage and still be at 20%. Ima stick with that kernal for now. Good Job guys :)

Which P3 Kernel are you using? So far, the only kernel that works for me at ALL is the stock Bekit kernel.

Take care,
Rob

Sorry man, I meant Bekit...the stock kernel that comes with the build. My brain...need...help

Some screen caps of Sapphire 0.6.2 and Smoked Glass Blue w/ ADW Launcher. Gonna have to play around the Spare parts some more for those notification colors

Where did you get that wall paper? It is wicked lookin!

It's one of the wallpapers that I pulled from the Kangerade rom and placed over one of the stock wallpapers in the Launcher2.apk under /system/app.

Thanks for the updates on kernels, I guess I'll wait a few days before installing this. As I don't want to loose functionality just to be on the "cutting edge"

Don't get me wrong, the new kernels won't be providing any extra functionality over multiple speeds (and possibly compcache support). Also, I wouldn't call the stock kernel buggy persay, as all of my testers have had no problems. This is just the nature of kernels. Devices aren't the same and certain kernels with certain speeds work better on different devices. The goal of getting the P3 kernels out is so that people have different voltages and speeds to choose from to find one that works best with their device.

Good ROM so far, really with you had scripts though... What is the long way for removing native apps? The stock messaging app is always annoying and I love the "Incoming message" sound but it goes "Incomi-Incoming message" every time with the 2 messaging apps. And the messaging app being in the notifications is horrid. Oh and I just hate the amazon and other crap like that too lol

Also I can't see any images under screenshots on sapphire page under the stock one, if that matters.

Keep it up, and thanks for the reboot into recovery option, I like it.

Just so everyone knows, the kernel issues are being worked on. I am personally working with P3 to create a series of kernels specific to sapphire in a range of speeds and voltages.

Keep in mind that the kernels for Froyo are nowhere near the stability as the kernels for Eclair were at. It is a completely different version (.32 vs .29), and since we only recently got Froyo to play with, the kernels are still being tweaked.

Hopefully I will have the new kernels in the next few days.

Also, thank you to everyone for the support. :)

Also, be sure to check the "screenshots" section for the various supported themes, as they provide the recommended values for setting the various notification colors.

And lastly, luna will be available in the next few hours. :)

Um I cant find the section with screen shots and themes... :(

Go to /system/apps in root explorer and delete from there. Afterwards, just reboot and you're all set.

The scripts available are below.

ScriptyBox (scripts!)
adblock (turns ads on or off in the browser/apps)
camsounds (turns camera shutter/record sounds on or off)
cpuinfo (display CPU info)
freemem (ensure that 50, 75, or 100 mb of RAM is always available)
halt (shuts down the system)
meminfo (display memory info)
mtdinfo (display internal system partition info)
rmapk (remove various APKs, such as amazon mp3 and whatnot)
sysro (mounts the system partition read-only)
sysrw (mounts the system partition read-write)
swapinfo (displays swap space info)
switchapk (downloads and swaps between various apps, i.e. milestone and 2.1 music, without the need to put them on the sd card)
zipalign_apks (zipaligns ALL apks on the entire system)

For what it's worth, I've seen many reports of MMS issues when the stock messaging app is deleted, even if you're not using it - you can disable the notifications in the stock app if that's all that's annoying you.

Oh and one nitpick - the path is /system/app

Thanks for the correction... just running all of this from memory (at work). And yes, please don't delete the stock mms app (just disable notifications to avoid repeats with 3rd party apps like handcent/chompsms).

So far still so good for me. Only spooky thing was not understanding why my droid was playing music when I came back to it after a break.

Turns out this release doesn't have the alert tone I was using previously (via Profiles program). So it was defaulting to one that played continuously.

Hmmm...had another spontaneous reboot while my phone was just sitting there, so I've restored just the kernel from 6.0 to see if that's any better for me.

This is probably a stupid question, but hey, I aint above that lol.

I downloaded and installed the Smoked Glass theme - and I love it.... except the font. I hate that - alot! How do I change the default system font?

Take care,
Rob

Related to that - there is an option to apply fonts in ROM Manager - under Forkup IRRC. I've used that on 2.1 ROMs, would that work for 2.2 ROMs as well?

If so, that's an easy way to go back to stock, Rob.
