Bug Fixes and a Little More What Else Could You Ask For- Sapphire 0.6.2

I don't know if it is this rom or the luna theme, but i love the pirate themed SU!. One comment on the luna theme, notification text and clock need to be changed to white from black.

Go to the Sapphire wiki.... click on the screen shots of the themes.... the colors codes are listed and you can easily change them in the Spare Parts app loaded with the ROM. I did it for the Smoked Blue.

btw... just a mention... the News and Weather Widget is not themed to match the rest of Smoked Blue Glass.

Not sure if this is a bug or more of a feature request (hence the reason I'm posting it here vs on the bugtracker), but I noticed that I can't use the volume buttons to go from Sound -> Vibrate -> Silent anymore. Vibrate can either be on with Silent mode or not, there doesn't seem to be a choice between the two. With Beautiful Widgets, I can toggle between the two, however even when set to silent, the phone vibrates.

Is this a bug, or simply just the way FroYo behaves?

Thanks!

Also I am experiencing boot loops with Chevy's 2.2 kernals, so those are not working. I'll use P3 instead.

you do it all yourself in spare parts... That's one of my favorite features of this and CM ROMs. It's not so torturous to change the colors of those things anymore

P3 gave reboots when trying to use wifi.

cvpcs stated that they have been working with P3 to develop a kernel for Sapphire. For now I'd recommend (as stated in the install instructions) to stick with the included kernel until the P3's are released. (maybe tonight)

Every FroYo ROM I have used does this. BTW, the bugtracker is meant for both bugs and enhancements / feature requests.

Me too, but for other froyo roms. It doesnt seem to go into silent, im not sure how to work that yet lol

Bugs: On the Jawbone Icon the callerid announcement is gone. I tried pre and post wipe data and cache. Maybe part of the bluetooth stack is missing? On 0.6.0 it works perfectly.

I just had a fun few minutes. The following all happened with a fresh (i.e. wiped) install of 0.6.2. It seems to me that the themes do not like ClockworkMod. I tried to install both kinds of Sapphire Smoked Glass and got boot loops. A bit more terrifying, I couldn't boot into recovery (at that time, Clockwork)- though that was fixed by pulling the battery ~and~ plugging the phone in. When I did that, it would boot fine - but without the theme. It seemed that the theme wasn't getting intsalled. On a hunch I switched to SPrecovery and it worked perfectly. Might be something odd about my phone or could be some incompatibility between the themes and Clockwork. Thought I'd mention it because that might be the source of some of the problems installing other kernels, as well. Just a guess on my part as I know next to nothing about these things.

I rooted my phone for the first time Saturday Night. (Why I waited so long, I don't know now! It's awesome!) Was running stock 2.1 w/root. Then I put Jrummy's froyo from source on my phone. It all seemed to be ok until I went to the market place. I couldn't see any of the apps I paid for, so I couldn't get them back on my phone. So I went back to 2.1.

Then I found Titanium Backup, so I backed up all my apps, and put Jrummy's froyo back on. Still couldn't see the apps I paid for in the market, but I had them working. Then after I thought about it for awhile, I went back to 2.1. If there was an update for one of my paid apps, I'd never know about it.

So I eventually found Sapphire, thought what the heck, I'll give it a try. Put on 0.6.0 and all the apps were there! Perfect! Played with it for awhile, and actually had a fleeting thought that I might put it on my wifes droid... HA! Then I saw that FB Sync wasn't working. FB is my wife's life, so that wasn't going to happen.

After putting 0.6.0 on, I found that Vampires Live by Storm8 didn't refresh the screen properly. After hunting around their forums for a bit, I found that none of their games are working on anybody's froyo... So I dropped that app. I was getting addicted to that game and probably not too healthy to do so anyway...

I also found that FBreader did not work, and Kobo did not work, and AudioBook Free did not work. I'm writing these off as not froyo compatible. Plus I really don't need them. Aldiko, and Laputa work just fine, and I found Ambling BookPlayer to replace Audiobook.

Now after installing 0.6.2 it seems the droid is a little hesitant, this relative to 0.6.0, not the stock 2.1 I was on. It's still smokes that one by far! Nor am I complaining about it, just an observation. I'm wondering if it was the change in kernels. I see it's running at 800mhz now, where as on 0.6.0 it was running at a 1000. Of course it may be all psychological too.

Audiobooks Free still FC's. No biggy...
FBReader works again! YAY! All my books are still there too!
Kobo seems to be working again too!
My book apps will be complete if Kindle ever gets released!
Storm8 games... still don't work, wasn't expecting them to either.

The most important apps to me are Touchdown, and Documents to Go. Oh yeah, and Spectrek. My little one loves that app! These are working perfectly, the OS is working perfectly, everything is perfect!!

A big thank you to CVPS!!! You rock!

Just one question: Will this thing reject an OTA update? I would hate to put it on my wife's phone, and then the OTA come to her and have her do something she probably shouldn't do... This would not be a good thing for me...

One addition to the story: The phone did lock up on the second reboot after installing 0.6.2. Black screen. No response from any button. Had to do a battery pull. It's been fine ever since!

Impressed with the stock kernel so far. Wifi (and Y5) work fine.

Navigation works fine.

I'd probably give it at least a day to see how the battery compares before I feel the need to change. I try to give a kernel 48 hours before I switch it.

I got a linpack of 12.8 when I would get 13.6 or so with p3 1ghz LV kernel on my personalized FRF57 leak.

And thanks for the headsup about the superuser permissions, I actually had found that on my own right after I posted. I hadn't verified that it fixed everything until I came back and saw the reply.

If you haven't already, ditch the stock launcher and download Launcer Pro or ADW Launcher. Much better experience IMO.
