Camera Fix and it works

CK if I were homo you'd be in trouble

edit: Nevermind, I'm getting green corners without wiping the lens, you can't have this.

I am on the conspiracy. The other droid in my office we are using for testing apps was not cleaned off and is not spot on with pics. Barcodes, text, ocr is all perfect.

I know this fix happened late at night because I was at dinner last night giving someone a review of the phone. I showed them several pics that were fuzzy and out of focus. This was at about 9pm eastern.

In the end..I dont care what did it. I am stoked this fixes one of the major issues with the phone as far as reviews and the "general public" were concerned.

Just skimmed the thread so far, but I took an indoor shot this morning @ 5 am and red corners. Pic was ok, not great (stationary object not a person). Cleaned the lens just now and first try the corners were green. I've seen them maybe 2-3 times since 11/6 when I got mine.

Sweetness.

If you look at your data detail on your My Verizon account, you will see one or more multi-megabyte downloads ~ 3:00 am in the past few days. We are defenitly getting OTA fixes, and camera autofocus was clearly one. I clean my lens every day, and today is the first day I can successfully focus, within a second, first time every time,. under all lighting conditions.

I just checked online and I have a download of 799.63kb @ 7:07pm on Mon. 11/16 that I have no idea what it is....since all my apps have been stuck in 'downloading' since Saturday.

i've tried the lens cleaning previously with limited results. i will say that having a clean lens is important for the best quality shots possible.

the silent patching idea sounds possible though. i've noticed a difference, with autofocus being consistent the majority of the time now. would definitely like to get as much info on this as possible. if silent patching is being done will it affect future os updates or only 'minor' patches like a camera issue?

Calls in the middle of the night, texting random people at odd hours, cameras suddenly working......

This device is operating independent of us.

I'm not going with a silent update. I think they have created something they thought they could control. It's an experiment gone wrong.

Look at the commercials, it's all right there. To think I thought it was just slick marketing. Wow.

Droid Does.....whatever the hell it wants.

I think it might be the same way that the home screen rotate broke. Nobody knew that it updated, but it suddenly stopped working.
lol...it didn't break. The homescreen NEVER rotated into landscape without the keyboard being deployed.

People can swear up and down but they simply did not pay attention. They assumed it would but then when they payed attention they found out it did not rotate.

Sorry, but you're wrong here. When I first brought my Droid home I was very frustrated by the fact that the home screen would sometimes go into landscape mode when it was sitting unused on my desk (with the keyboard stowed, not deployed). For the first few hours after I bought it, the phone absolutely went into landscape mode for the home screen without the keyboard being deployed.

I was specifically annoyed by the behaviour because I felt that the home screen should not rotate unless the keyboard was out.

Then there was a silent "fix" that changed things and it is now working as I think is should.

As for the camera, I'm fairly certain that there was an update. The camera software is now respecting the phone's settings if it's on silent and the focus beep and shutter sound are muted if the phone is on vibrate or silent. I'm pretty sure this was not the case before.

lol exactly...see they left that part off on purpose. They are laughing at us..

On 11/6/2009, Skynet became self-aware.

LOL.

Seriously though, I am of the opinion we did get a secret update, but, how amny of us with better camera performance downloaded the update to ShopSaavy that was supposed to make it Droid compatible (not that I had much trouble with it before). Could that have actually had a camera fix in it?

I, for one, do not have ShopSavvy installed. I do have the keyring and barcode scanners installed, but neither of those have been updated recently enough for them to have caused the improved performance of the camera.

how cool is it that it fixed itself in the middle of the night..or..whatever the heck happened..so far,my phone seems to like me and i am going to try very hard to keep it that way...
