CyanogenMod 5.0.6

Okay...I feel really dumb but I'm going to ask anyway. I've been looking over the threads in this section but I don't see anywhere to actually download the ROMs. Where do I get the ROMs to install? Also, are there instructions somewhere on how to install these ROMs? Is it an update.zip or a nandroid backup?

Thanks

You get the download from ROM Manager app. You can find it free (limited access) and paid version. Try free first to make sure you like the ROM ( pretty sure you will).

Ohhhhhh, so there is no place to just download it. Got ya. I've tried the free version of Rom Manager but it doesn't let me download Roms without purchasing it. Any way I can get one of these Roms to play with before I make the dive and purchase Rom Manager?

I'm not going to direct anyone to another forum, so you won't get a link from me. However, google is your friend. You do not have to install cyanogenmod through ROM Manager. Koush makes an update.zip available for those who prefer to download it to a pc and install it that way (which is what I did). However, he chose not to put a link in this thread. It is definitely available, though, you just have to look elsewhere.

Just easier to use rom manager :)

I'm not bashing ROM Manager, but I'm a power user that prefers a more involved approach. ROM Manager does make things very easy. For someone who is a little unsure of what they're doing, or someone who doesn't have a pc handy, or someone who just doesn't want to be bothered with more steps then ROM Manager is a great thing. Personally, I enjoy the tweaking process too much, so it takes a lot of the fun out of it for me.

Thanks much. You guys have been a great help!

Here's an annoying ROM Manager glitch. So, use RM to install the latest CM, then add Smoked Glass-Esque.....and, when it boots, it'll tell you that CM has an update available. Ignoring is no big deal but I'm wondering if there's something that can fix the dependencies.

I dont think smoked glass its compatible to run on thee new cyanogen 5061 yet is it

It is amusing that a paid app was included after all the drama that has gone on recently. I guess everyone makes mistakes! No slight at anyone here, just made me chuckle.

I'm sure this was purely accidental. Also, as Koush noted it is possible to find SetCPU for free if you know where to look (and it isn't illegal, the post I'm referring to was made by the developer himself). Still, the dev. requests that SetCPU not be included in any roms. Koush had a patch within hours that removed it. I really don't see an issue.

ok I am totally new to cyanogen .... what baseband is this running ???

01P

However, I don't think a baseband is included, per se. I believe that whatever baseband you're running on your phone already will be the one you continue to use. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, but I believe setcpu was the same app that got BlackDroid kicked off of Alldroid. They considered it a paid app even though it could be found for free online. Like I said, I don't care either way. I just thought it was ironic.
