Disrespectful Android Users

Plus...im not being hateful as im not on the dev section complaining about things.

I also support the devs who make adfree apps so I don't have to buy apps or look at ads.

With all of this said, I can understand why people can be disrespectful. I just switched to cynogenmod and I can't get ANY help. I so frigging frustrated and pissed it is hard to be nice right now. I'm getting NO help HERE or on their forums. So I can understand why people can be hateful.

It is sad that folks treat others this way especially, as pointed out, they are working for free which takes them away for their families and other responsibilities. Thankfully, the majority of the community is grateful to the developers, donate, and respect their work.

I agree...When I see all of those free apps that the people have created to make our droid experience better I applaud them. I have never complained that an app or developer had a bad app...There are many people that appreciate the work the developers do and probably should tell you more often. I do think the majority that I have seen appreciate it also. Sorry you all have to take grief if someone is complaining about an app. If it is something I try and like I am so happy...if it is not perfect for me..it could be for someone else. Keep up the good work and normally they say you can't please all of the people all of the time..but in this case I think you please more people than you can imagine and the people who complain should not discourage you. The mature people appreciate you!!!

One thing I have noticed about Android users (I am not accusing anyone here, BTW) is they have a sense of entitlement like none other. I agree if you have a paid app you should receive proper support from the dev and his/her team if they have one. But for rom's no one is owed a single thing. But I will say this, most if not all the dev's are accessible one way or another for support. It may not be on this forum but if you do a bit of research there are ways to reach them, whether it be an IRC channel or their own website. I have donated to any of the dev's I have used a rom of. It's not like it's a ton of money but just enough to say thank you. That doesn't mean I expect one on one support from them. Nor do I think anyone should expect that. Now it is certainly a huge benefit to us and also I think of the dev's themselves if they do offer good support. I think it builds brand loyalty. But when people expect the dev's to just drop everything and come help them is when I get frustrated. Sometimes that leads to people calling the dev out and then the person goes on a mission to put down the dev's work any way they can. I just think the sense of entitlement is a bit ridiculous.

I am not trying to stir anything up here but I can say I have posted questions, sent emails, and even signed up for twitter just to get responses from Pete....all to no avail. So I can't mess with his ROM's on my wife's phone if I get no support. No big loss though....there are dozens of ROM's to chose from so I don't really hold any hard feelings....I just avoid it altogether.

LGB for the D1 = Bliss

oh....and "donations" = pay

I have no problem paying for apps. They don't cost much. I've even gone as far as to buy an app from a developer that I didn't even need just to support the free app that the developer had in the market. usually the more appreciated the dev feels the more he'll work on the app.

I agree again.....according to Appbrain I have spent $165 on apps. So....I do pay and donate....so I do feel a little bit of "entitlement" to support. I don't ask Dev's often for support because usually I can just post a thread and get answers...but sometimes there is no other option.

The skillset needed for developing apps soes not equal skillset to be in IT. Just because some do both doesn't mean the product for droid/iphone equates to the real world stuff.

Are you kidding?

IT has nothing to do with development. You are showing your true knowledge here.

IT doesn't even require a degree anymore. You can walk in and be one of the sheep maintaining networks, you have no business even using.

Just because you think curing cancer is epic (with which I don't disagree), I hope that Tapatalk teaches you something about natural selection.

Sorry but compiling AOSP doesn't make you a developer.

Many of the ROMs have no changes to the code at all.

Theme creation is nice but it's a far cry from coding.

Wow, this thread should be closed.

A lot of thankless high-horse folks.

Thanks for coming out.

ok....I have to say this....I don't think this thread was intended to start critiqing all of our Dev's....it was about one Dev seeking sympathy or something to that affect.

Let's not start blasting our Dev's....some of us love our ROM's and wouldn't want a D2 without one. This is now 6 pages....going to be 7 soon...and we are sidetracking into something else.

Thanks again team Liberty....and Liquid....sorry had to cover both ROM's I am using.

Compiling a ROM from AOSP (source) for a specific device does make you a developer. Wow, just wow.

One last note before its closed: my only issue with the users is the lack of constructive criticism and the want for the devs to work faster and when we don't the users get angry. Thankfully most of this is a minority.
