Hello I'm a new Droid user looking to learn more about my droid and its endless possibilities too! ... saludos a los usuarios que hablan español. Soy dominicano residiendo en Puerto Rico.

I just purchased a Droid 2 and have spent some time between here and XDA learning as much as I could about my new phone. I've been off the carrier grid for awhile using a Nokia N800 with SIP, but figured with how Android development has been coming along that I needed to get into the droid game. That and I realized I could write off the D2 on my taxes since apparently I need a phone for my work -- that made it much easier. I'm a big open source advocate and Linux geek and am looking forward to hacking the hell out of this thing throughout my two year contract. Already rooted and spend a large part of my time playing the nethack port and working in the command line. I don't even have to leave my couch to get the laptop anymore. It's doubly lazy. Anyways, thanks for having a great community here. I look forward to learning a lot from these forums in the future.

New to smart phone. droid incredible.
started with a bag phone in 1988. piece of cake. now i can't even figure out how to make a call on the droid. i guess that's why i'm here.

Droid 1 owner as of april this year. Recently used the info on this forum to root and overclock my droid. Things so far are working very smoothly however have not run any custom roms just yet as the increased performance and flexibility have worked well so far. Temps have been manageable and battery life seems to have improved somewhat as I am using a lv kernel from P3 which really slows things down when the screen is off via setcpu profiles. I would say I am a low to moderate user looking for additional performance when needed and good battery life when not. So far over clocking and rooting have worked well. Haven't ventured into custom roms yet as not sure I need to get into tweaking the views etc with potentially twitchy roms. But i may be misunderstanding roms alltogether. need to read more on the forum to see if I want to venture down that road.

lot of good reading in my sig. feel free to ask any questions u have

:welcome:

Thanks.
Currently working on networking my Droid via wifi using astro and smb. Got it working seems slow and crashed ie and Droid the other day worked fine yesterday. Seems giving it more time to load the files helps. While drilling down through networked files I have to give it time to catch up or it crashes. Used rsdlite and sp recovery detailed instructions on this site to root and install a new kernel to overclock. The detailed process worked well I got hung up right where they said I would. All worked out in the end. Enjoying what seems like increased responsiveness.

Hello. I have a question: Why does my Music app start playing when I slide my phone (Motorola Droid) open? It immediately begins playing songs stored on my phone. It's quite annoying :) Any thoughts? Thanks

did you possibly set as a notification tone? i know theres a setting somewhere to play a sound when you open/close the keyboard. maybe this is it..

Nope I don't think that's it because it's not always the same song that plays. If I had set a soud to play with open/close, it would be the same one, I think. Thanks for the suggestion.

new user to fourm

Hi everyone,

My name is Jerry and I have had my droid 1 for approx 6 months now. I'm currently running UD rom and have had good luck so far with it, but it does lag some on open and closing of programs, so I will be looking for somthing new to try. I've had some help from my brother in law but hate to keep asking him to bail me out so I figured I would sign up here and get myself up to speed. So far I must say this is the best droid fourm I have been on. Thanks.

Jerry
