Hello

Hello All

I have a Motorola Droid 1 and have had it for close to a year and a half. I am anxiously awaiting the Droid Bionic which may or may not be coming out and decided to root my phone in the mean time to get a little more out of it and hopefully give it a new life. There seem to be a lot of smart people on here and I am going to enjoy trying to take in some of that knowledge and maybe at some point be able to contribute a little of my own.

Hello

I got my Droid just over 24 hrs ago. Still learning to use its basic functions. I have come here to find as much information as I can about it. I have had a Blackberry for about a year and thought it was time for the switch. I guess I had no idea how different this phone would be. I feel like I should be going to Droid University or something.

I got my D1 in January 2010. I didn't want to void the warranty, so I waited til last January to root around and play with roms. I figured I was good, because I could use PDAnet to tether, and that was as fancy as I needed. I wish I hadn't waited, once I started playing with the custom ROMs, ending on Cyanogenmod 7 (which is brilliant, nothing ever functioned so perfectly functional and smooth).
It finally died on me when the screen wouldn't come back on after a short drop last month (entirely my fault, it survived 5 months after I threw it out of the car window at 70 and went back for it) and got a replacement. The backlight went out on that last week, to a dim flicker, so I got it replaced again. I told them it was probably because it was a REFURB so they sent me a brand new D2G, which I thought was awesome until I noticed a chronic signal issue which is landing me another brand new one to try tomorrow. Wish me luck, even though I miss Cyanogenmod, at least I could root it. The power and memory my D1 lacked makes up for it.

Greetings - I am new to droid, new to smartphones. I've been a Palm user for 15+ years, and while new in the learning curve, am very frustrated by some of the awkward issues with the Droid2 - multiple steps to perform simple functions, inability to remove bloatware (why do we need Blockbuster software when Blockbuster's bankrupt), awkward entering information into calendar, etc., etc., etc.. I'm confident I'll learn to adopt, and am pleased that at least I'll be able to carry a single device anywhere (rather than multiple phones when I travel plus a separate pocket computer, plus a portable computer. First major test will be an international trip in two weeks (yes, my unit is unlocked, and I'll be in 4 countries, each with a different system)

Greetings fellow Cyborgs! (well my phone has grafted itself to me since I bought it, so I can only assume this is normal :-) )

Nearly a Silver Surfer, but still working in IT (VMware mostly).

Recently bought a Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade) and am now using custom ROM (Frodo) and doing lots with it - mainly techie stuff like wireless connection to my home servers etc., and the mundane stuff like sorting out backup (Titanium anyone - great app!!)

Too sad for words - I need to get out a LOOOOT more!! :-)

See y'all around...

Andy
