It was androids or knitting, so here I am - granny trying to get a grip on the droid world. I have downloaded Eclipse and the Android SDK. Already I'm perplexed! When I try and create the HelloWorld class, I type "HelloWorld" into the the name section, but the (finish) button doesn't highlight? Can anyone give me a dig out please? I'm on an MacBook Air.

New member here, too. After two days of failed logins I realized that one doesn't type one's username next to where it says username but on top of where it says username. That explains why I couldn't find where to put the password. Heh.

Greetings - I am new to droid, new to smartphones. I've been a Palm user for 15+ years, and while new in the learning curve, am very frustrated by some of the awkward issues with the Droid2 - multiple steps to perform simple functions, inability to remove bloatware (why do we need Blockbuster software when Blockbuster's bankrupt), awkward entering information into calendar, etc., etc., etc.. I'm confident I'll learn to adopt, and am pleased that at least I'll be able to carry a single device anywhere (rather than multiple phones when I travel plus a separate pocket computer, plus a portable computer. First major test will be an international trip in two weeks (yes, my unit is unlocked, and I'll be in 4 countries, each with a different system)

Where do you travel? I'm in Ireland. So, you won't have to switch your phone if you travel to Ireland? Is that pretty expensive on the roaming?

EmericS,
Newbie to newbie, when you say "unlocked," do you mean rooted? If not, the latter is the answer to your comment about Blockbluster and the rest of the stuff that is so insulting to look at. I had a lot of respect for Verizon, but lost most of it when I found my phone had junk I could not remove without violating my service agreement.
Made me think of this, from a BnL song:

How quickly you learn/
Not to discern/
Who is foe and who is friend/
We'll own them all/
In the end.

Hey everyone,

My most recent Android powered device is the HTC ThunderBolt. However, I've owned a Droid since way back in the days of the T-Mobile G1. I also owned the original Droid, and I'm lovin every minute with the TB.

Hope to learn a lot more about Android here!

New Here

Howdy All

My name is Greg and I just bought a Thunderbolt. I am new to this new technology of a smart phone so please bear with me as I my ask some vert foolish questions.

Again it is sure great to find an advice forum that can help

Thanks

Hello all.

I'm new to the Droid. Although I'm pretty happy with it I have my complaints, one of which is the fact that in order to remove an application you have to go into it from the Market Place to uninstall. If there's another way to do it, let me know.
settings<applications<manage applications<find desired application then click remove.

Hello everyone.

I am currently on my 3rd android based phone. I had the Droid the first week it was released. What... 2 years ago. time flys. had an HTC eris for a while (gf has it now) currently I have a Droid X which is awesome. I thought the Droid was leaps ahead of anything at the time, likewise the X is leaps above the it. I am also seriously considering passing my X down when the BIONIC comes out!.

My GF"S Eris is a good-little phone lets just say that. No a GUY phone at all.

I also have an Android Superpad 2. But I'm about to give it to my daughter, i havnt decided between the Motorola Xoom or either a Viewsonic or Samsung tegra 2 based Pad. But will make that choice soon.

And my GF has an IPAD 4.3.3 (boo His).

All my androids are rooted. My daughter has a fascinate and my son has an LG of some kind.

I have learned a lot already just reading this forum.

Mike

Well, i got my LG Touch 2 when i switched to VZW back in October of 2010 and have been truly un-impressed ever since. But i went to my brothers house in December 2010 and fell in love with his Droid 2 Global and have now ordered one for myself. I get it tomorrow in the mail and, being a Linux programmer, MUST play with it and tweak it. Sitting here studying the forum has me totally anxious with anticipation. lol. oh well. soon enough ill have a liberated D2G and be doing things much faster and more stress free.

Hi Guys! How are you all doing? devilishlygreat here. I just got my Thunderbolt for more than 2 weeks now. And I am hoping to learn more about my phone through this forum.
