Droid 1/2 Extended Battery

hm, so far doesnt seem to have lasted me that much better, after 3 hours of usage, and prob 20 minutes of constant music playing, im already down to 70%

I would die for a few extra hours. I'm usually lucky to get 10.
with all the things i have done to extend my battery i can get over 12 hrs with the stock, i get almost no signal at work due to the heavy amounts of concrete, brick and metal making up the building. today the first day running chevyno1 1.25 ULV i usually leave after being there for 10 hrs and the battery is at about 5%, today i left after 11 hrs and it was 20%.

when im somewhere with good signal, i can get around 14-16hrs on the stock. im hoping the extended will give me at least 24 hrs.

The building I work in is similar and I get 0 signal. Why don't you put the phone on airplane mode while at the office? It is using A LOT of battery searching for a signal. I notice if I forget to put mine in airplane mode, by lunch time I'm down to the 40's.

I'm going to order the extended battery but what can i do in the mean time to increase battery life. I am running stocked D1 with 2.2 manual update, no task killer, GPS is off. If anyone recommends that I root, can you post a link on how to do it? I'm not sure how to back up my phone. Also if i root what is the best ROM to use and kernal to save battery? I have been debating on rooting for a while but scared I'll screw up, but if it will help me save battery I may try it. Please help :icon_ nono2:

I just got my exteneded battery today, fits the motorola multi media docking station just fine. Has anyone else had trouble with the blue door, sliding it onto the battery, seems very tight and I in fact had to peel off part of the cushion from inside the door. Also even with the new battery it still fits in my cheap walmart leather holster just fine.

The new Motorola Droid phone has been rumored to compete with the iPhone in terms of functionality. If this is true, optimizing your battery life will help keep your new phone protected from any problems. By taking a few simple measures, you can save battery life and thus extend the life of your phone.

GREAT THREAD! 26 bucks and change out the door, being delivered tomorrow morning. awesome deal, a little matte spray paint on the battery door and it will be the cats ass! I was getting 15-20 hrs before and thought that was great, im gonna feel spoiled with all this juice

just got the D2 extended battery, using it with my seidio innocase (without the door) and seidio holster. everything is snugged inside. it's as-if nothing changed, perfect marriage. great performance thus far.

Just the information I was looking for! :icon_ banana: I'll pick one up at the local verizon store since I can't seem to get the BAT30 coupon to stack with my corporate discount.

I received the extended batt/cover about 30 minutes ago, after opening it up and looking it over, installing it in the phone, I slapped the phone in the multi-media charger base (yes, it fits fine), and 20 or so minutes it went from the 60% it arrived with to 100%. The original battery was a 1390 ma unit, the extended one is 1820; all according to the info on the respective batteries.

I do note that holding the Droid at arms length, looking at the new cover, it simply looks like I have a brown phone with a black battery cover on it. I won't be attempting to change the cover at all, it's irrelevant to me. The photos in this thread make it appear much lighter than it actually is.

Worth it? Yes, absolutely. I expect to get at least 40% more time off the charger if necessary. Since I did download some battery use reduction apps/widgets recently, I may get as much as 20-24 hours off charger.

Gads, whgen I get some spare cash I'll have to get me one too .... and the rubberized paint linked previously works great on batt doors BTW ...

Just ordered from Verizon Wireless's site. Overnight shipping was already free.

It wouldn't let me actually add the battery to my cart until I changed "My Device" to a Droid 2. Sheesh.

yeah, this battery is def worth the money. 10x better than stock

usually from 6am -230PM its close to dead, and that was with me being cautious with what i did. charging it before and after work.

so today i went to work, i didnt charge it on the way to work like i normally do. Its about a 20 minute drive and i listened to music that whole time.

while at work i did some downloads, some texting, some web and some facebooking from the app. it would be about moderate use.

Got home, and had to reinstall a rom. then i downloaded more apps. One was Trillian beta, left that one on for a couple hours with random IMing.

Random texting here and there.

After that i left it on and streamed pandora for about a half hour or so.

just checked it at 6pm and it was down to 20 percent. probably had a couple hours left or so but i wanted to get it charged.

so about 13 hours with probably 2-3 left. talk about an upgrade.

@crackedvenom

It's weird that we have such diverse experience with battery life. With the stock battery, not running any kind of "Juice" app, I usually get 11-12 hours with moderate phone use. I hope to get 18 to 20 hours with this battery once I get it.

yeah idk what it is. my stock was just complete crap while others was awesome. i even had all the stuff off i didnt use. wifi, bluetooth, location, gps, until i needed it of course, and still barely made it through my work day. the only real thing that updated was gmail. are you running any rom? im sure roms is another thing that runs my battery down a bit. that and launcher pro maybe.
