Droid 1/2 Extended Battery

@crackedvenom

I'm running the stock forced 2.2 FRG01B Froyo update. When I first upgraded to Froyo my battery life was horrible, but then I did a factory reset and my phone started acting properly and battery life came back.

I think he is!

The new Motorola Droid phone has been rumored to compete with the iPhone in terms of functionality. If this is true, optimizing your battery life will help keep your new phone protected from any problems. By taking a few simple measures, you can save battery life and thus extend the life of your phone.

you sound like a bot

I just found the exact wording on this webpage eHow.com.

How to Extend Battery Life On A Motorola Droid | eHow.com

After my first full day with the extended battery I must say I'm impressed. I'd say I normally use my droid for moderate to heavy use, texting, web, and games and taking it off the charger at 6am I usually have about 5% left at 3pm with the stock battery. Today I used it about the same and I think I had 50% left when I got home at 3:30.

I'm going to order the extended battery but what can i do in the mean time to increase battery life. I am running stocked D1 with 2.2 manual update, no task killer, GPS is off. If anyone recommends that I root, can you post a link on how to do it? I'm not sure how to back up my phone. Also if i root what is the best ROM to use and kernal to save battery? I have been debating on rooting for a while but scared I'll screw up, but if it will help me save battery I may try it. Please help

This is my 3rd day with my extended battery. I took it of the charger last night at 11:30 pm. I let the phone sit until 6:30 am and I have been on it since then with heavy internet, about 50 emails, mostly received, texting, some Home Run 3d, Slacker for about 1hr and I had one reboot while watching a YouTube review of Samsung Epic. It is 8:20pm west coast time and I am at 10% battery life. That is almost 21 hours. I am going to let it go until it dies and charge again. That is not bad battery life. With my stock, I would have had to recharge about 5-6 hours ago.

I ordered this battery earlier today and I can't wait until it gets here. Its going to be nice having decent battery life.

Alright guys, I received my battery today from Mr. Fedex. I modifies my plastic case from verizon to fit with the extended battery. Its not perfect but it gets the job done.

The cover is even recessed inside the case a lil bit so it won't get scratched when I set the phone down.

My first impressions of the battery are great. It is officially dead and on the charger now. When I installed it, it was at 60%. It was not easy to drain it. I got 6 hrs and 38 minutes out of it and that was 2hrs and 20 mins with the display on the brightest setting, about 1.5 hours of pandora with the screen on and 35 mins of phone calls and a lot of texting. The real test will be tomorrow when its fully charged and using my normal brightness settings and usage. I will post back soon with my results.

I received my yesterday around 5pm with 60% already charged, but went ahead made sure had 100% before using it. I can say by heavy texting and dl apps at 11pm was 40%. Going to test it out today. Also I didn't have to modified my case at all.

if this is 1880mah what is the original droid 1 battery?
1400 I believe

Im hoping they make an extended cover for the r2d2 version now :P

Is you battery life really that bad? With the stock battery I get 12-14 hours of hard use 2-3 phone calls, 2 hr GPS, 2 hr Blue tooth, (off when not needed) , news feeds, email, and several YouTube vids, and 30 minutes of Slacker.
My battery app says 20 hrs but that's just silly, I've run it until shut down at 18 hrs once. Don't use a task killer anymore screen brightness low and Both radios off when I don't need them.

That being said, after work a few weeks ago, I was using my GPS app Sports Tracker when playing Golf only got about 13 hrs before shut down. Bigger battery is always a good thing.

I was thinking about getting the Seidio 2600 mAh but it sticks out about 1/4" way too clunky, this seems like a good comprimise.

How are you turning off both radios when you don't need them?

i can confirm that peeling the foam off the original battery cover does not give enough room, its real close but not quite there.

I'm really getting sick of having to worry about my battery life all the time. I could be on my browser for 30 minutes after turning on my fully charged phone and the battery would already be down to 80. Then 70 and it keeps on draining even when I try to use it moderately. I have to REALLY try hard to use it VERY little if I wanna see it say 14hours in the battery info. Idk what it is.maybe its cuz when I was still in school, using 2.1 and I was using it less. Its hard to tell. Using screebl and system panel app would work wonders and I could get like 14 hours each day on moderate to heavy usage. Now it seems like I'm lucky to get 10. I know all the basics, keep screen dim, keep sync off(which I also minimize in apps as low as possible or manual) gps off, wifi off, etc. I do use setcpu so I'm wondering if overclocking is making it that much worse, although I use profiles. Also something else tht is weird is that even when barely using the phone the displa percentage would read like 60% which makes no sensense at all.

Funny. After twelve hours of use, maybe three of heavy usage, I got down to 30%. I turned my phone off and back on then it said I still have 50%.

Ive gone 24 full hours right now without charge.. 40% left.. browsed web for at least an hour, sent and received at least 200 texts since then and been sending and receiving mail all day... last 10hrs spent inside a building that barely gets me 1 bar of 1x freakin service..

This is gods GIFT handed down to us to power the Droid 1 :icon_eek:
