Droid 1/2 Extended Battery

PHP:
So funny!! Before I read this post tonight, I ordered this battery after finding it and had seen pictures comparing the Droid to Droid 2 and figuring it would work.

Glad to have confirmation before messing with it myself. Thanks guys!!

Oh, and I really doubt this will fit the multimedia dock, but I'll check once I get my battery.

Stock battery is killing me by the way. I was just streaming flash video while the phone was plugged in to my computer (charging?) and my battery level was actually going down. I was like WTF!??! I don't know how it can loose power while plugged in!

Anybody know of a case that might work with this? I have to have my droid covered. Its been in a case since day 1 back in november. Not a scratch or blemish on it.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm considering buying this D2 extended battery as well.

If I do buy it, I'm going to see if there's enough room for the new battery with extended cover if I cut away a relief into the inner silicone lining of my Otterbox Commuter case. :)

I just purchased the battery from Verizon with the BAT30 discount and my employee 25% off. Total was around 28 dollars at checkout.

Now I would also like to continue to use a case on my phone so let me know if you are successful in getting that otterbox to work. As for you guys who already got the extended batteries, have you tried using it with a case on? How about with the case and NO battery cover? It looks like it would fit but might be tight.

I use a hard case for a Blackberry that rides on my belt. I'm hard on phones in soft cases, breaking displays and such, this hard case works well. Shouldn't have a problem with the extended battery at all.

When plugged in to the computer it doesnt charge nearly as fast as the wall plug, the computer usb port puts out less than 500ma while the wall charger (with detatchable usb cord) puts out 850ma and the 1 peice charger they originally shipped the droid with puts out 550ma. I recieved the 2 piece one when i ordered my phone in february but the ones from last year shipped with the 1 piece i believe.

I just finished sifting through the thread- is there a consensus on if a cover will work with the extended battery? (Otter Box/Innocase)

Thanks for your work, fellas!

I don't have the Otterbox case, but with the cover on the battery the Innocase cover will not fit.

I have had the seidio extended battery, yeah the big one, and love it! Don't know why anyone hasn't gotten it... It works wonderfully for me!

I got the seidio home dock. I don't need the car dock. I also have the innocase. Saved my phone multiple times!!

I can't be certain that the Otterbox case is compatible with the extended battery on the D1, but I did put about 4mm of sticky notes on the back of my original battery and was able to put my Otterbox case back on. It looked funny since it bowed out, but it was secure.

So, I went ahead and ordered the extended battery ($27.55 shipped :D). I have high hopes the Otterbox will fit. If no one else follows up I will when I get my battery.

If your putting a case on, you could probably leave the battery door off, saving you a mm.

I use a blue plastic hard case from verizon and was looking at using a dremel to cut out an opening around the extended battery door but it looks like it will leave the sides of the case especially around charging port, volume keys and camera key VERY VERY thin. It might work but i dont know for how long. I have an old case i might give it a try on.

Just order my battery. Got it for 26.24 out the door WITH overnight shipping. Should be here tomorrow and then its time to pull out the trusty dremel.
