Droid 1/2 Extended Battery

just ordered my extended battery today for my D1. i was wondering if my case would still fit correctly with the battery being slightly bigger. Below is the link to the case i have. Anyone else have this case and the extended battery for the D1?

Set Your Location

Yes it will with the battery cover on or off. However with the battery cover on it slides a lot harder into and out of the belt clip. I use mine with the cover off and it slides in and out like stock.

thank you for letting me know. i dont use the belt clip but i was worried that it wouldnt fit.

Really glad I bought this. My battery life is now as it SHOULD be. could get a good 14 hours on heavy use now.

my girl and i received our extended batteries this morning. She has the D2 and i have the D1. For the D1, the battery went in fine and i had to give a little effort to get the door it came with on but it went on perfectly. Getting it off requires a little more effort. We both let out batteries die and we and now charging them up. I cant wait to see some extended use without having to charge as often and watch our use. I have noticed with the multimedia docks we have, the phones dont fit as well. Sliding out the keyboard and putting it on the dock works fine. Ypu can then either leave it open or slide the screen down and it still charges. Another thing is with my D1, the battery seems to take forever to charge. My girl and i put our phones on charge at the same time and she is almost completely chargred and im only at 30%. I dont remember how long they were on charge for when we noticed. (too busy playing HALO, lol)

will post more aa we see how our battery life has improved.

*edit* After a few days of having the extended battery, battery life has finally improved. Changed some settings when we first got them but the battery life seemed to be the same as before. Thinking maybe after a couple or more charge, the battery might warm up and take full effect. This didnt work either. Then we dis covered that the task killers we had, were not only draining the battery life. but also not working. Since not having the task killer, the battery life is AMAZING. being un-plugged since 8am, im only down to 60% at 8pm. I have been using my phone all day, texts, FB, web browsing, market searching and downloads and a few calls. I am very pleased with the battery life i know have and should have always had. the money for the battery is worth everything it has.

Clear Battery Cache?

I have seen it mentioned numerous times that if you are rooted you can clear the battery cache to avoid having to restart the phone to get use of the full charge on the extended battery. Just rooted last night using Motocache1's method Rooting the Droid 1 - regardless of OS version. But I can't find anywhere how to clear the battery cache. The SPRecovery I used for that has a clear cache option, but not battery cache.

Is there a way to do it using the command line in terminal emulator or other method?

Thanks for any suggestions

Clear battery cache should be in advanced setting im on clockwork and that's where mine is. My battery meter reads as if I have original battery in it so I had to reboot phone cause it would say low battery but know I don't even do that just let it read down to 5% but it will just stay on (thought it would reset itself). Maybe that's how it reads the the life and will start reading correctly after a few times, I don't know.

Just go in root explorer and go to /data/system and delete batterystats.bin

Cool - couldn't see that file with my current file browser. Bought root explorer, found and deleted. Hope that does the trick.

Thanks

Ok, I'm doing something wrong. I deleted cache, charged battery. Phone went down to 20%. Powered off, pulled battery, reinserted and now at 50%.

I must not have the sequence right. If I'm rooted and delete the battery cache, then shouldn't phone realize full capacity of extended battery?

What is the proper procedure to avoid having to restart phone to use extended battery?

Thanks,

This thread is great. Great that both Innocase and Otterbox will fit this without the back. Have owners who have tried this seen any ill effects in terms of heat, fit, etc.? I haven't bought a case, but figure this is a great way to pick up a case and let the bulge be that rather than the battery. Also makes a super geeky gift opportunity.

Fully charge the battery.. let it sit unplugged for a few min, plug it back in.. make sure its all the way topped off.

then clear battery cache

then let the battery drain till it dies, restart the phone, let it die again.. pretty much make it so the battery is as dead as you can get it.

then fully recharge it.

you should be all set after that

Anyone want to post their results on how long their phone lasts after using the extended battery for a couple weeks?

Every day is different with my phone. Depends on usage and signal. But my phone goes much longer. If I'm home not using it much I could go two days with no charge

Yes, the droid 1 should still fit in the dock. This battery is the best upgrade I ever bought. It hardly adds any thickness. I think it feels better in the hand now. I get around 18-24 hours on this thing. No lie.
