Yes, but it is not public yet. Should be within a week. Check out this thread at xda: Droid 2 Global on ATT...One step closer :-D - xda-developersso is there a way to get the d2g to work with these carriers after unlocked.?>
You don't have to compile anything. Once you download the .zip, extract it. You will now have an .apk file. Put that on your sdcard (connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable, put it into PC or Mass Storage mode, and copy the .apk over), open the file with the "Files" app and install.I don't understand where the .apk file is. Am I supposed to compile from the extracted folder?
Sorry, I'm a complete newb
You don't need to remove your SD card. Either download the file directly on your phone, or download it on your computer then connect your phone with the USB cable and copy it over.is there a way to do this without taking out my sd card can i do it through usb or right off of my phone?
I just downloaded the file, put it on my sd card in the download folder, ran the app (got the error and needed to allow non-published apps or whatever) so enabled that then ranit - clicked permanent root and gave error about usb debug, so I turned that on, then clicked permanent again. Now says Z4 Mod - Running exploit in order to obtain root access...but has been sitting here spinning the loading screen for 5 minutes now. Battery is low so need to know what to do ASAP!
Thanks
do I do a battery pull to kill the task or what? Ive got 30% on battery so im ok for a bit...
thanks for quick reply
I'm assuming you downloaded z4root onto your computer? Just connect your D2G to your computer using the supplied USB cable and put the phone in either PC mode or USB mass storage mode. You will see a new drive pop up (which is the sdcard)...just copy it there.im stuck on the first step ...
how do you copy the z4root directly to the sd card?
i have the z4 root already downloaded

You don't need a computer, but you do need to get z4root on the SD card, and using a computer is an easy way to do this (vs downloading using the browser on the phone)I'm assuming you downloaded z4root onto your computer? Root doesn't give you "free apps". You can get apps from the market or from other sites. Some of these apps need root to run, but root doesn't turn a paid app into a free one. (Of course, that can still save you money, so a rooted user can use Wireless Tethering without carrier charges for example)
